RES Western European Masters Spring 2023, is a B-Tier online european tournament that will take place at the beginning of March, and will put against each other 8 european teams, fighting for a place at Blast Spring Showdown. Out of the 8 teams, 2 were invited by the organization, Endpoint and Gamer Legion, but the other 6 came from various qualifiers and we will break them out.
Firstly the French and Benelux qualifier, featuring several french teams, and outsiders, 35 teams faced each other, but only the best 8 managed to get into the quarterfinals, all matches including the quarterfinals match were BO1, with the exception to the semifinals and the grand finals matches that were BO3, and the winner from the grand final was Team LDLC after taking HEET down by 2-0, and they qualified themselves for RES Western European Masters Spring 2023.
Next let´s talk about the polish qualifier, the Gam3rs_X Polish Clash, featuring 8 teams, and 4 were invited, with 9INE and Illuminar Gaming being high seed teams, but the other 4 teams came from the open qualifiers, 1 and 2. Both open qualifiers featured several teams and were single elimination bracket and all matches were BO1, but the qualification matches were BO3, and only 2 teams from each open qualifier managed to go through the Polish qualifier. At the Polish qualifier itself, there were 2 stages, the play in stage and the playoffs stage. In the play in stage, it was a double elimination bracket where all initial matches were BO1 and lower bracket and qualification matches were BO3. In the initial matches from the play in stage, only the open qualified teams played against each other, then the winners from those matches played against the invited teams but not the high seed. The winners from the upper bracket and lower bracket got qualified for the playoffs. At the playoffs, it was a double elimination bracket, all matches being BO3, and the 2 teams qualified from the play in stage faced the invited high seed teams, and since it was a double elimination bracket, 2 losses will get elimination, so there are second chances and a lower bracket. The finalist from the upper bracket and the lower bracket will face each other at the grand final, and the winner qualifies for the RES Western European Masters Spring 2023.
In the German qualifier is a single elimination bracket, will feature 8 teams, all matches will be BO1, except the grand final match that will be a BO3 match, and the winner will get qualification for RES Western European Masters Spring 2023.
In the Baltics qualifier, we have Baltic Blastoff, and 8 teams will face each other, 4 invited teams, and 4 teams that qualified from open qualifier, 1 and 2, and every single invited team will face an open qualified team randomly, at the upper bracket quarterfinals, on a double elimination bracket, all matches will be BO3, and we will have second chances and a lower bracket. The winners from the upper and lower bracket will face each other on the grand final, and the winner will get qualified for RES Western European Masters Spring 2023.
The last 2 teams from this tournament came from 2 open qualifiers, the first featuring 29 teams, the second featuring 43, For The Win and Into the Bin were the winners from the open qualifiers, and on both of them it was a single elimination bracket, with no second chances, you lose you are out of the competition, all matches being BO1, but the Grand Final was a BO3 match, and the winners got qualified for the RES Western European Masters Spring 2023.
Coming back to the tournament itself, all 8 teams will play at the first stage from the tournament, the group stage, and then they will qualify for the playoffs stage. At the group stage, the 8 teams will be divided in 2 groups of 4 teams each, and it will be a double elimination format of groups, with all matches being BO1. The 4 teams will face each other on 2 opening matches, then, the winners from the opening matches will face each other at the winner´s match, where we will find the first teams qualified for the playoffs stage, and the group stage winners. The losers from the opening matches will face each other at the loser´s match, and the loser will be eliminated from the competition. The loser from the winner´s match and the winners from the loser´s match will face each other in an all or nothing decider match, that will decide which team will move forward into the playoffs, and which team will be eliminated. Only 2 teams from each group, 4 teams at total, will go into the playoffs stage.
At the playoffs stage, it will be a single elimination bracket, all matches being BO3, and no second chances allowed, you lose you are out of the competition, and the winner from group A will face second placed from group B, and the winner from group B will face second placed from group A at the semifinals, the winners from that match will go into the Grand Finals, and the winner will be crowned winner from RES Western European Masters Spring 2023 and be qualified at Blast Spring Showdown that will take place later on March.
