ESL Challenger League Season 45 Asia Pacific is a B-Tier online tournament between teams from the region Asia-Pacific, where 16 teams will go head to head, fighting for a prize pool of 20.000 dollars, and most importantly a spot at ESL Pro League Season 18 that will take place in Malta later on August.
Out of the 16 teams that will play this tournament, one will still come from an ESL Pro League Move down, still to be determined, 10 will come from the ESL Challenger League Season 45 Asia Pacific, top best teams, 1 will be the winner from ESEA open Season 44, and 4 teams will come from Season 44 Relegation stage, the top 4 teams from the tournament. This tournament will feature 2 stages, the regular season and the playoffs stage.
In the regular season stage, the 16 teams will be divided in 2 groups with 8 teams each, and it will be a round robin format group, which means every single team will play against each other once in the group stage, which means every single team will play 7 times. All matches will be BO3, the top 4 teams from each group will advance into playoffs. Fifth placed teams, from each group, won´t advance into the playoffs but will still be qualified for ESL Challenger League Season 46, sixth and seventh placed teams will be sent to Relegation, while the bottom team from each group, the eight placed, will be demoted to Open.
In the playoffs stage we will have a double elimination bracket, which means there will be indeed second chances, all matches will be BO3, and we will have a lower bracket, meaning that 2 losses will get you eliminated and out of the competition. Each team qualified from group A will face a single also qualified team from group B randomly, in the upper bracket quarterfinals, and the losers will face each other in the lower bracket. The winner from the upper bracket final will be the first team going into the grand final, and will be the undefeated team from the tournament, and will face the winner from the lower bracket final against a team that we know that already has a loss, and the final will be a BO5, with the team coming from the upper bracket final having already 1 map advantage. Which means that the upper bracket finalist only needs to win 2 maps, because they already have a free one, since they have been undefeated they gained that advantage, while the lower bracket winner will still need 3 maps to win, remember that BO5 finals, are 2 picks from each team and a decider map, but in this case, since the first will already be an automatic win for the upper bracket finalist, there will be 2 picks from each team, without any decider map. The winner from the Grand Final will win the biggest prize of 8.000 dollars and most importantly will win a spot at ESL Pro League Season 18. Remember that top 10 teams from the tournament, including the 2 teams that didn´t manage to go into playoffs, will be automatically qualified for ESL Challenger League Season 46 Asia Pacific, while 11-14th placed teams will go into Season 45 Relegation, and bottom two teams, 15th and 16th placed teams will be demoted to Season 46 Open.
