ESL Challenger League Season 44 Asia Pacific is B-Tier online tournament occurring with Asia-Pacific CSGO Teams, from a specific area, and 16 teams will enter this tournament to fight each other for a 20.000 dollar prize pool, but most important than that, is the presence on ESL Pro League Season 18, that will happen on Malta later in August. This tournament started on January and will end only on March.
From all 16 teams, 10 come from Season 43 when they got qualified from the previous season, NewHappy came from ESEA Open season 43, and they got first placed, GR Gaming and Flaggers come from Relegation Season 43, and they got first and second places, Kintsugi and Molegan came also from the S43 Relegation with third and fourth places, and lats but not least we had another team coming from ESE Open season 43, FyR Esports, who got seventh placed. There are 2 stages in this tournament, starting from the regular season.
In the regular season, we will have two Round Robin format groups, which means we will have 2 groups, with 8 teams each, and all teams will play against each other once, which means each team will make 7 matches at total, and every single one of those matches is a BO3, and the 4 top teams from each group will advance into playoffs, which means only 8 teams at total will be able to advance into playoffs, and 4 will be eliminated, but since there might be same win rate in several teams, there is a tie breaker process, and here are some of the points:
- Points amassed between tied teams (mini-league)
- Map difference between tied teams
- Map wins between tied teams
- Overall map difference
- Overall map wins
- Round difference between tied teams
- Round wins between tied teams
- Overall round difference
- Overall round wins
4 top teams will proceed into playoffs, fifth placed team will return for Season 45, so it will be qualified for next season, but don´t advance into playoffs, sixth and seventh placed teams will be sent into relegation and eight places and last team will be demoted into Open stage.
On playoffs, we will have 8 teams at total on a double elimination bracket, a loss will get you into the lower bracket, which is a second chance that is not very commonly used in playoffs stage, but here all matches will be BO3, with the exception to the Grand Final, that will be 5 maps. However, there is a slight twist, the grand final will put head to head the winner from the upper bracket final, that will go into the Grand Final without a single loss on playoffs, that will face the lower bracket finalist, but the upper bracket finalist will have already a 1 map advantage in the Grand Final, so the BO5 will start already 1-0 for the upper bracket finalist that will just need 2 maps to win, while the lower bracket finalist will need 3 maps to win the series. The winner from this Grand Final will win a total prize of 8.000 dollars and will guarantee a spot on ESL Pro League Season 18 in Malta, and obviously securing a spot at ESL Challenger League Season 45 taking place later in April. Also remember that the 4 teams from each group that got qualified into playoffs, 8 at total, plus the 1 team from each group, 2 at total, that got fifth placed and didn´t managed to get into playoffs, all those 10 teams will be qualified for ESL Challenger League Season 45.
