BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023 is an S-Tier tournament and one of the biggest of the year in CSGO, where we will have 8 of the best teams in the world, competing not only for a 425.000 dollars prize pool, but also a place in the World Final from Blast that will be happening later this year. This tournament will take place on LAN on Entertainment and Sports arena, in Washington D.C in the United States, and the tournament will take place in the beginning of June.
Out of the 8 teams playing in this tournament, 6 came from the Spring Groups: Team Vitality, Faze Clan, Navi, Astralis, G2 Esports and Heroic; 1 of the team's will come from the Spring European Showdown and another team will come from North American Spring Showdown.
When it comes to Spring Groups, that was the first big tournament of the year, with 12 partner teams from Blast going head to head in a LAN event in Copenhagen, in Denmark, fighting not only for a 177.000 dollars map pool, but also most importantly for a place in the Spring Finals. There were 2 stages in this tournament, the group stage and the play in stage, when it comes to the group stage, we had a three double elimination and all 12 teams were placed in 3 groups with 4 teams each, each group was a double elimination group, so we had a lower bracket, meaning that 2 losses will get you eliminated from the competition, all matches were BO3. There was a second chance for teams already with a single loss, so they didn´t get eliminated right away. The winner from each group advanced directly into the spring finals, in this case was Vitality, Faze and G2, while the rest of the teams still had to face each other in a play in stage later on. The play in stage was composed by 3 single elimination gauntlets, meaning that third and fourth placed from each group faced each other in the first round, 3rd placed from group B faced 4th placed from group C, 3rd placed from group C faced 4th placed from group A and 3rd placed from group A faced 4th placed from group B. The losers from the first round, got automatically qualified from the showdown respectively, if they were a European team, for the European showdown, or if an American team, for the American showdown. The winners from round 1 play in stage faced then the second placed for each group, and the losers also got qualified for the showdown, while the winners from that match managed to pull through and got qualified for the spring finals, in this case it was Navi and Heroic.
When it comes to the European Showdown, besides having a 67.500 dollars prize pool, they have 3 teams from the spring groups: NIP, OG and BIG, Rare Atom from 5e Arena Asia Cup, the winner from RES West EU Masters, the winner from RES East EU Masters, and the winner from Pelaajat.com Nordic Masters. All these 8 teams will go head to head in a single elimination bracket, with all matches being BO3, and with no second chances allowed, losing will get you out of the competition. There will still be a team in this tournament that will come from a tournament still to be announced. The winners from the quarterfinals will proceed into the semifinals, while the losers will be eliminated from the competition, and the winners from the semifinals will proceed into the grand finals, where the winner will not only win the biggest prize of 20.000 dollars, but most importantly, will win a spot at the Blast Spring Finals in Washington. Keep in mind that this tournament will be played online.
When ti comes to the America Showdown, the prize pool will also be 67.500 dollars, and this tournament will also be played online in north america, and we will have the same 8 teams, 3 coming from the Spring groups, like Team Liquid, Complexity Gaming and Evil Geniuses, Imperial Esports coming as the winners from TG Masters, the winner from the tournament ACE Masters, and still 3 teams coming from a tournament still to be announced. In this tournament the system is exactly the same we have seen in the European showdown, a single elimination bracket, with no second chances allowed, you lose you are out of the competition. All matches are BO3, the winners from the quarterfinals will proceed into the semifinals, while the losers will be eliminated from the competition, and the winners from the semifinals will proceed into the grand finals, where the winner will not only win the biggest prize of 20.000 dollars, but most importantly, will win a spot at the Blast Spring Finals right next to them in Washington. This team will be the American representative in the spring finals.
In the main event itself, at Blast Spring Finals there will be 2 stages, the group stage and the playoffs stage, firstly in the group stage, the 8 teams will be divided in 2 groups with 4 teams each, and we will be watching a double elimination format group, with all matches being BO3. Firstly we will be having 2 opening matches, the winners from the opening matches faced each other in the winner´s match, and the winner from that match was the group stage winner, and will get a major advantage since it will advance directly into the Semifinals in the playoffs stage, and the first team advancing into the semifinals stage. However, on the other hand, the losers from opening matches, also faced each other in the elimination´s match, the loser from the match, got fourth placed in the group and was the first team of the group getting eliminated. The winner from the elimination match and the loser from the winner´s match also faced each other on an all or nothing decider match, also a BO3 match, that will decide everything, because the winner from that match will get second placed in the group stage, and will advance into playoffs quarterfinals as a high seed team, while the loser will get third placed in the group stage and will advance into playoffs in the quarterfinals as low seed team.
In the playoffs stage, we will have a single elimination bracket, with no second chances allowed, you lose you are out of the competition, and all matches will be BO3, in the first matches we will have the quarterfinals, that will only be played by the four teams placed in second and third in the group stage, meaning that the second placed from group A will play against the third placed from group B and the third placed from group A will play against the second placed from group B. The losers form the quarterfinals will be eliminated, while the winners from the quarterfinals will advance into the semifinals, and each winner will play against a group leader, a team that got first placed in the group stage. The winners from the semifinals match will face each other in the grand finals match, and the winner will be crowned in Washington D.C, champion from Blast Premier Spring Finals 2023, and will win the biggest prize of 200.000 dollars, and guarantee a spot at Blast Premier World Final that will be played later at the end of 2023. Remember that last year´s winner was Navi taking down Team Vitality 2-0 in Lisbon.
