Valorant Partnership Applications Approaching the Deadline

24.06.2022, 06:24

Almost every team around the globe is preparing to submit their partnership applications to Riot Games as Valorant is heading in a different direction for the 2023 VCT Circuit.

According to a report by Dot Esports, this partner program with Riot Games will provide selected teams with new leagues, sources of income, and a minimum salary cap requirement. Riot Games wants to push Valorant into three franchised leagues, like League of Legends LCK and LCS. These three leagues will be split between the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Riot Games will choose ten teams for each of the regions.

Unlike the LCS, teams will not need to spend $10 million to buy into the league as Riot Games has only requested teams to submit the partnership application.

For the Americas region, the ten teams will be split between North America, Brazil, and Latin America. This will likely mean that the teams selected from Brazil and Latin America will have to relocate to the United States to participate in this league. While it is not known yet, the number of teams in each league could increase from ten.

Riot Games has requested teams to provide financial details and a structured plan on how they plan to produce content and marketing for Valorant. With Valorant becoming one of the fastest esports, Riot Games has emphasized the importance of the scene’s growth.

This partnership program has significant implications for the 2023 VCT circuit as it could mean that organizations and rosters could disband due to the international leagues being the only way to qualify for international tournaments.

Organizations such as Luminosity Gaming have already announced the difficult decision to exit the Valorant scene. Also, according to 1pvcs reporter neL, G2 Esports are potentially looking to leave the European scene and has applied for the Americas league. Many teams, such as T1, and The Guard, have publicly announced their application submissions. Many others have kept their application submissions private.

With over 150 teams submitting partnership applications, the process will take a couple of months before fans will find out which teams have been accepted as official Riot Games partners.

The regional leagues are planned to start at the beginning of the 2023 VCT season.
