In the first half of the 2022 VCT season, Luminosity’s journey has been successful for the roster and the organization. During North America’s Stage 1: Challengers’ open qualifiers, Luminosity failed to qualify during the first open qualifier after being bested by TSM. Still, they fought back in the second qualifier and made it to the group stage after defeating Soniqs.
Luminosity managed to clinch the fourth seed in Group A in the group stage with a 2-3 record. With wins against Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves, the roster found themselves in the playoff stage to qualify for Masters: Reykjavik. Unfortunately, although they bested the top seed of Group B, Version 1, they would drop matches against The Guard and XSET, failing to qualify for the first international LAN of 2022.
Heading into North America’s Stage 2: Challengers’ open qualifiers, Luminosity bested the likes of Version1 and Sentinels to qualify for the group stage. After playing three weeks of games in the group stage, the current roster has a 2-1 record and is currently among the top three teams in Group B.
Luminosity has addressed that everyone on the roster, players and staff included, will become restricted free agents and compete without an organization after the conclusion of Stage 2. Despite this unfortunate news, the players and staff have publicly expressed their intentions to remain as a team after parting ways with Luminosity.
Luminosity VALORANT, including staff, are now restricted free agents.
Keeping our roster AND staff together is incredibly important to us, and vital to the long term success of this team.
