Tottenham Hotspur are moving to secure the long-term future of Luca Williams-Barnett, opening contract discussions with the teenage midfielder as Bayern Munich circle. The north London club views the 18-year-old as a central figure in its next generation, and a fresh deal could close the door on suitors from Germany.
Spurs Build on Academy Reputation
Tottenham have built one of the most respected academy setups in English football. The club has produced numerous first-team talents in recent seasons and continues to refine its youth pathway, drawing attention from clubs across Europe.
The club recently lost Elijah Upson to rivals Arsenal and is determined to keep hold of its remaining prospects. Williams-Barnett has emerged as one of the names Spurs are prioritizing, with a renewal now in motion despite outside interest.
A stronger start to the season might have pushed Williams-Barnett into first-team contention in the league sooner. Roberto De Zerbi gave him notable minutes during pre-season fixtures against Sydney FC, Auckland, and MK Dons. The teenager made his senior debut last season in an EFL Cup third-round tie against Doncaster, and this term he has featured twice as a substitute against Charlton.
Interest also extends beyond Bavaria. Borussia Dortmund have been credited with interest in the 18-year-old, though Bayern Munich’s pursuit is viewed as the more pressing threat from Spurs’ perspective.

Tottenham Plan New Deal for Williams-Barnett
At the moment, the north London giants are not planning to consider any offers for the teenager. Instead, they are preparing to renew his contract and secure his future at the club.
Williams-Barnett still has considerable time left on his current deal, but Tottenham want to move early and offer him new long-term terms. The club is confident of reaching an agreement, and completing the renewal would secure one of English football’s most promising talents for years to come.
