StarLadder Returns with a Spectacle: Budapest Major 2025
After a five-year hiatus, StarLadder is back in the spotlight with the announcement of its long-awaited return to the Counter-Strike Major stage. The StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 is officially set to run from November 24 to December 14, offering fans an electrifying month of top-tier CS2 action.

This Major will be the second of 2025 and continues the new era of 32-team Majors across four competitive stages. For the first time in StarLadder’s history, every stage of the event will be held in front of a live audience.
- Stage 1: November 24-27 – MTK Sportpark
- Stage 2: November 29-December 2 – MTK Sportpark
- Stage 3: December 4-7 – MTK Sportpark
- Playoffs: December 11-14 – MVM Dome
Venue Details
The initial three stages will take place at the MTK Sportpark, an intimate 2,000-seat venue designed to bring fans close to the action. The grand finale shifts to the state-of-the-art MVM Dome, where a 360-degree stage will be deployed in front of a full-capacity crowd of 20,000 — a monumental upgrade signaling the scale of StarLadder’s ambitions.
StarLadder’s Comeback Story
This tournament marks StarLadder’s first Major since the Berlin 2019 event. The organization faced a turbulent few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical unrest, temporarily halting its operations. In 2024, StarLadder re-emerged with plans to host a full slate of StarSeries events across 2025–2026.
While the original 2025 StarSeries was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts with the expanded Major format, StarLadder remains committed to the CS2 ecosystem. Notably, a second Budapest event is planned for September 13-21, 2025, which is likely to serve as a dress rehearsal for the Major spectacle to follow.
