Luminosity Gaming has always been involved in the highest tier of North American Valorant, being one of the main competitors of the 2021 and 2022 VCT circuits. The roster’s transfer to Shopify Rebellion marks the end of LG’s involvement in the VCT.
In the first half of the 2022 VCT season, Luminosity’s journey has been successful for the roster and the organization. During North America’s Stage 1: Challengers’ open qualifiers, Luminosity failed to qualify during the first open qualifier after being bested by TSM. Still, they fought back in the second qualifier and made it to the group stage after defeating Soniqs.
Luminosity managed to clinch the fourth seed in Group A in the group stage with a 2-3 record. With wins against Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves, the roster found themselves in the playoff stage to qualify for Masters: Reykjavik. Unfortunately, although they bested the top seed of Group B, Version 1, they would drop matches against The Guard and XSET, failing to qualify for the first international LAN of 2022.
On June 2nd, Luminosity announced that they would be parting ways with their Valorant roster, making everyone restricted free agents after the conclusion of Stage 2: Challengers.
In Stage 2, Luminosity bested the likes of Version1 and Sentinels to qualify for the group stage once again. In the Group Stage, LG finished with a 3-2 record, good enough to earn the fourth seed for the playoffs. Unfortunately, Luminosity would be eliminated by FaZe Clan and exit the playoffs stage.
Shopify Rebellion and their new roster will participate in the NA Last Chance Qualifiers, where they will compete to participate in Champions 2022.
