MSI 2022 Day 3 Predictions

Day two of the Mid Season Invitational was crucial for some teams. After losing on day 1 going 0-2 down could spell the end of your tournament dream.

We had some dominant performances and some very close games that could have gone either way.  We only got four of the six games correct this time, but let’s see if we can make it up on Day 3.

ORDER vs Evil Geniuses match prediction

I have said this time and time again in my prediction articles it will be very hard for ORDER to win a game in this group.

Evil Geniuses dominated the early game versus the Oceania representatives and managed to control the rest of the game.

The North American champions played it safe, with a good macro game and only fighting round objectives where they had the vision.

ORDER still put up a valiant fight but Evil Geniuses is just a better team all-around so I predict that tomorrow’s game is going to have a similar result.

G2 Esports vs ORDER match prediction

G2 Esports are still undefeated and I don’t see that ending after this match.

After dominating the early game against Evil Geniuses but almost throwing the game in a risky Baron call, the LEC champions were still able to secure the game and sit on top of Group C with a 3-0 record.

The LEC champions have proved to be the best team in this group and are still waiting for someone to challenge them, and I don’t think that someone will be ORDER.

I predict a very dominant and comfortable win by G2 Esports who will continue their undefeated streak.

PSG Talon vs İstanbul Wildcats match prediction

PSG Talon didn’t look great against RNG. They once again were dominated in the early game, and despite still being able to win some team fights later in the game the gold lead was too big at that point and RNG eventually closed out the game.

İstanbul Wildcats on the other hand was able to defeat RED Canids, but it wasn’t a dominant win.

The Brazilian side was in control of the game for the majority of it, but a mistake on the mid lane saw the Turkish champions win the team fight and march into RED Canidds base where they finished the game.

Both teams have still not convinced me as I have yet to see a good performance but either side.

However, despite their loss to RNG, the PCS champions were more proactive in the early game which was something I was very critical about in their game against RED Canids.

I still feel this is a very solid team and that if they can show the same early game level versus İstanbul Wildcats they might get to that mid to late game stage where they excel in their team fights.

We can’t forget that İstanbul Wildcats is a very good early game team, and despite not having shown that in this tournament so far, they proved they will capitalize on the opponent’s mistakes just like they did in the game against RED Canids.

The bot lane will play a very important role in this one since both teams’ main carries and stars are their ADC’s.

With this being a must-win game for PSG Talon, as going 0-3 would be almost impossible to recover from. I see the PCS side coming in with a sense of urgency to win this match, and I feel they know that a good performance here is imperial.

I will go with PSG Talon but this game will be a very close one.

Royal Never Give Up vs RED Canids match prediction

The LPL champions are still undefeated in this 2022 Mid Season Invitational. Not only that but they dominated their opponents in the two wins and clearly showed why they are one of the favorites to lift the trophy.

RED Canids also had a good start to the event, with an upset win over PSG Talong, and despite losing to the Turkish champions RED Canids was in control for the vast majority of the game.

But now the CBLOL champions will face their toughest opponent to date, the reigning LPL and MSI champions, which despite not having a great early game domestically have been dominating the early game at this event, against some weaker opponents if you compared them to the teams they face in the LPL.

It’s true that the Brazilian squad’s early game has been much better than expected but I don’t think that it’s going to be enough against RNG.

Furthermore, RED Canids can’t make mistakes like they did last game because RNG will for sure take advantage of that.

This was the potential to be a very interesting game but I see RNG winning this one with a dominant performance.

Saigon Buffalo vs Team Aze match prediction

The VCS second seed got their first win today versus the Japanese champions.

Once again they fell behind in the early game and DetonatioN FocusMe should have won that game, as they dominated in the majority of it. 

However, the VCS representatives outplayed the Japanese team in the team fights, it’s on skirmishes and late game team fights that the team excels.

Since they don’t have a good macro game, and playing around with vision or map control is not their strength, they rely on late-game team fights or skirmishes to get back into the game.

Team Aze was dismantled against T1 and the LLA champions are probably the weakest team of this MSI 2022 since ORDER is at least making some games competitive until a certain stage.

I think the fighting ability of Saigon Buffalo will bring them the win, and they are also playing a team that doesn’t have the best macro play.

T1 vs DetonatioN FocusMe match prediction

Just like RNG and G2 Esports, T1 is still undefeated and they have been looking scary at this tournament.

They completely steamrolled Team Aze and showed that they are not only here to win they came to dominate.

DetonatioN FocusMe should also be 2-0 in this group, since they comfortably defeat Team Aze, and had a very good showing against the PCS champions, being in control of the game until a risky Baron call and some bad team fights in a row saw them lose a game that looked like a certain win for the Japanese side. 

Now they will have the difficult task to face the best team in the world. T1 has a great early game, their macro play is immaculate and their team fighting ability is also really good.

I still think that DetonatioN FocusMe can make the game competitive but at the end of the day, T1 is just overall a better team.
