Manchester City are not sweating over Erling Haaland’s long-term future, even after a controversial verdict landed against the club over alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules. Sources close to Manchester City insist the Norwegian striker carries no relegation clause in his contract, dismissing any suggestion he could walk away should the club find itself outside the Premier League.
According to TEAMtalk, City officials have reiterated that neither Haaland nor other key members of the first-team squad hold relegation release clauses. The Citizens have made clear internally that relegation is not a scenario they are preparing for. City have already lodged their appeal against the verdict and remain confident behind the scenes that the decision can be overturned.
No Panic Button Pressed at the Etihad
Manchester City have told key squad members there is no reason for alarm while the legal process runs its course. Haaland put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the start of last year, even with the financial charges still pending a verdict at that time.
