Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have intensified their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ibrahim Maza, moving to get ahead of Chelsea in the race for the Algerian talent. Both London clubs are assessing the 20-year-old attacking midfielder as a potential recruit for their respective squads.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal and Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Maza, with scouts from both clubs tracking his progress closely. Chelsea are also monitoring the player, joining a growing list of Premier League sides keeping tabs on the Algerian international.
Maza joined Bayer Leverkusen from Hertha BSC in the summer of 2025 and has since delivered 15 goals across 49 appearances for the German side. His output this season includes a goal and two assists in five outings, figures that continue to draw attention from Premier League recruitment departments.
His form for Algeria during the current international break has only strengthened his profile. Maza scored and set up a goal in Algeria’s 3-1 win over Zambia in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, a performance that reflected the attacking instincts already visible at club level.
Maza’s technical ability and versatility make him a natural fit for clubs seeking more creativity in central attacking areas. He operates comfortably in the half-spaces, receiving the ball between the lines before turning to attack defenders directly.
His reading of the game allows him to identify space quickly and link play in dangerous zones. Those attributes have made him increasingly important for Leverkusen despite his age, a trait that translates well to the demands of Premier League football.

Why English clubs are targeting Maza
Maza could add creative depth to Arsenal’s attack as the club competes on several fronts this season. Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze currently occupy the number ten role, but Arsenal may view Maza as a long-term addition capable of contributing centrally and out wide.
Tottenham have struggled to find consistency in the final third this term. Maza’s ability to both create chances and finish them could address that weakness directly, despite his relative inexperience at this level.
Chelsea’s continued interest adds another layer of competition, and their involvement could complicate matters for their North London rivals. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea all recognize the value of Maza’s ball-carrying and technical quality in the half-spaces.
