Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, as translated by Sport Witness.

The Reds lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid and moved to replace him by signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen last summer. The Dutchman endured a difficult debut campaign in the Premier League, hampered primarily by fitness problems. Conor Bradley remains the other right-back option at the club, though he has been sidelined with a serious knee injury for several months. That forced former manager Arne Slot into using Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones as auxiliary right-backs across the season.

Liverpool have already moved to address the right side of the defence by bringing in Ronald Araujo from Barcelona this summer. The Uruguayan is a right-footed centre-back by trade who can provide cover at right-back when required. Despite that addition, manager Andoni Iraola is said to want another defensive option, prompting the club to consider raiding the Blaugrana once more.

Kounde, 27, recently signed a long-term contract at Camp Nou running until 2030 and has no desire to leave. Barcelona, though, are prepared to cash in on him for a substantial fee, given that regular first-team minutes look unlikely for the Frenchman next season.

Manchester City and Arsenal are also tracking Kounde, with the Gunners showing the strongest interest and reportedly willing to commit a significant fee to win the race.

Transfermarkt values Kounde at around £51m. He has operated predominantly as a right-back in recent seasons, though he built his reputation as a centre-back at Sevilla. Quick, strong in the air, composed in possession, and reliable defensively, he has cemented his place in the France national team’s starting lineup.

For Liverpool, a player of his profile would add genuine depth and quality on the right side. Whether the club moves beyond interest into a formal approach remains to be seen. Follow TipsGG for the latest updates as this transfer situation develops.
