The winner of ELEAGUE Major Atlanta 2017 in Astralis roster, Markus Kjærbye has announced his retirement from CS:GO in July 2021. The Dane’s last team was the local team HYENAS, who failed to establish themselves on the world stage. Two months ago, Kjaerbye announced that he decided to return to the competitive scene, and was ready to find a new home. Today, the 7th of June, the British club Endpoint has announced the signing of Kjaerbye.
After an unsuccessful attempt to qualify for the Major, Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas decided to place himself on the bench and pursue other opportunities. After that Endpoint changed the coach. Allan “Allan” Hender decided to leave the coach position and focused on work as a talent. He was replaced by former MOUZ coach Allan “Rejin” Petersen.
In a statement, Kjaerbye said he is happy to be part of a team like Endpoint:
I’m delighted to say I have found the ideal place to pick up my rifle again with Endpoint. The people behind Endpoint, and the culture they have created, have again and again shown they have the structures to allow players to maximise their potential, which is exactly what I’m looking for.
CEO of the British Club, Adam Jessop, is also satisfied to see the Danish player on a roster:
It’s a truly exciting prospect to be able to bring Markus into the Endpoint CS team. There is no denying the caliber of talent and experience he will bring to the lineup. After having a number of conversations with him, I fully believe that he is as passionate and focused as ever, ready to continue his CS career again and that we can help him along that journey. His renewed focus on physical and mental wellbeing resonates with our own objectives and was a key factor in the decision for both parties.
Endpoint CS:GO is:
- Max “MiGHTYMAX” Heath
- Kia “Surreal” Man
- Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel
- Guy “Nertz” Iluz
- Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjaerbye
The first tournament for a new roster of Endpoint will become ESL Pro League Conference Season 16, which takes place in Jönköping on 15-20 June.
