Jamie Leweling is staying at VfB Stuttgart this summer, despite concrete transfer interest from Everton and AS Roma in the final days of the transfer window.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Everton submitted a concrete offer to Stuttgart overnight as part of their search for a productive wide attacker. Roma also tabled a bid. Leweling rejected both approaches, and Stuttgart remain unwilling to entertain proposals ahead of the transfer deadline.

Leweling’s Track Record at Stuttgart

Leweling has built a strong case as one of the most underrated wingers in the Bundesliga since arriving from Union Berlin. Stuttgart signed him on loan in July 2023 before completing a permanent deal 12 months later. Across 126 appearances for the club, the 25-year-old German international has contributed 20 goals and 22 assists.

His output took a clear step forward in the 2025/26 season, posting 11 goals and 12 assists in 50 outings. That form placed him firmly on the radar of several prominent clubs, particularly in the Premier League.

Why Everton Needed Him

Everton’s pursuit made sense given their attacking situation. The club has been tracking Iliman Ndiaye’s future with concern, and those worries are now confirmed: the Senegalese international is set to join Manchester City in a deadline-day move. Jack Grealish is close to returning to Everton on a season-long loan, but that addition alone does not resolve the need for consistent output from wide areas.

With Leweling committed to Stuttgart, Everton must identify an alternative target before the window closes. Ndiaye’s departure leaves a real gap in the final third, and time for the Merseyside club to address it is short. Follow TipsGG for the latest updates as deadline day developments unfold.
