FUT Confirms SunPayus Signing as AWPer, cmtry Moves to Bench

FUT have officially confirmed the signing of Álvaro “SunPayus” García, the AWPer benched by G2 Esports, validating an HLTV report from September 16. The 27-year-old Spaniard steps in for Nikita “cmtry” Samolotov, closing a lengthy chapter for the Ukrainian on the roster.

SunPayus had been sidelined since the Cologne Major, pushed to the bench by G2 Esports during the summer break. That decision opened a slot for Artem “r1nkle” Moroz, who arrived from Ninjas in Pyjamas to fill the AWP role.

The Spaniard joins a FUT Esports lineup with an average age of 20.3, injecting experience into a roster built around young talent. He is expected to operate as a secondary in-game leader, delivering a clear upgrade over cmtry on the AWP, though his rifle numbers are likely to dip compared to the departing Ukrainian.

cmtry rose through Natus Vincere‘s academy system, starting at NAVI Youth before moving to NAVI Junior. When the core of that roster was sold to FUT in August 2025, Drin “makazze” Shaqiri was the lone holdout, earning a promotion to Natus Vincere’s main roster instead of making the switch.

cmtry’s time with FUT peaked at PGL Bucharest in April 2026, where the squad lifted the trophy and he claimed his first MVP award. 2026 proved rockier for the rifler-turned-AWPer, his LAN rating sliding to a flat 1.00 as consistency became an issue.
