ESL has updated their Dota 2 ratings following the recent ESL One Fall 2021 tournament
Top Three
Everything has remained unchanged in the top three. The Chinese five PSG.LGD is still in the lead. Two-time runner up of two majors of the current season – Evil Geniuses is in second place. The representatives of Southeast Asia – T1 rounding out the top three.
Of course, it would be strange if PSG.LGD dropped lower in the table. They took second place in the last tournament even played with their coach – xiao8. It seems that PSG.LGD were playing this tournament for their own pleasure, not really thinking about drafts and strategies. Xiao8 has a small hero pool and his team was constrained. This fact did not prevent LGD from outplaying its opponents. Sometimes the system would crash because other teams did find the key to defeating the LGD in a given case. But it was more of an accident than a proven experience.
Evil Geniuses did not even compete at ESL One Fall 2021, but two second places in the Singapore Major 2021 and WePlay Animajor allowed them to stay on the second line.
T1 coped with Alliance and Beastcoast in the lower bracket at the last tournament from ESL, but then lost to PSG.LGD in the next series. It was clear from the T1 drafts that the guys were experimenting and trying to increase a macro game. Obviously ESL One Fall 2021 is not such an important tournament for T1. The team is preparing hard for The International 10 in order to justify the title of the strongest team in the region.
VP – top 7, Team Spirit in the top 10
Team Aster moved Invictus Gaming from the fifth line. This happened due to Astaer’s good performance at OGA Dota PIT Season 5: China. And although IG took the third place in that tournament and Aster – the fourth, in the total standings of ESL points Aster was higher. Most likely this was due to a good performance in the DPC season.
Virtus.Pro climbed three positions. Noone can say that the “Bears” demonstrated an excellent understanding of Dota at ESL One Fall 2021. They made a lot of mistakes due to problems in the macro game. The new coach of VP Anatoly “boo1k” Ivanov also did not bring anything new to the team. Nevertheless, third place at ESL One Fall 2021 is a decent result.
We expectedly saw Team Nigma fall by two positions. The team did not pass TI10 and decided to take a break from professional Dota until next season.
The cherry on top of the cake in the top 10 was taken by Team Spirit, who bursted there after ESL One Fall 2021. They beat Team Empire in the lower bracket of this tournament. Team Empire were not serious opponents for the team that was able to qualify for TI10. Then Team Spirit were defeated by PSG.LGD. However, they showed a decent game, fighting back and taking one card from the Chinese grands.
ESL One Fall 2021 Winners
Thundra Esports won ESL One Fall 2021 and ranked 12th in the ESL rating. Tundra has risen by as much as 12 positions. This upsurge has opened up a lot of debate about the worthiness of such a team to participate in The International.
