The final date was October 7, 2021 and the final location was Bucharest, Romania. For the first time since 2011, Europe will once again host The International.

Format

• 12 teams qualify through DPC system. It is the regular regional leagues. Each team need to earn amount of points to get to the TI through DPC system.
• 6 teams qualify through Regional Qualifiers; one team each from North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China and Southeast Asia
• The tournament has a group stage (October 7th - October 10th, 2021) and Playoffs (October 11th - October 17th, 202

Group stage

• 18 teams which divide on two groups of 9 teams play in a round-robin bo2 format.
• The four the best teams of each group goes to Upper Bracket, the bottom two teams are eliminated, the rest of the teams goes to the Lower Bracket.

The Playoffs

• The main event will consist of 16 teams which play double elimination system. 
• Eight teams begin in the Upper Bracket, eight in the Lower Bracket.
• First Lower Bracket match is Bo1, Grand Final is Bo5, all others matches are Bo3.

The International prize pool generate through player Battle Pass sales. The starting amount guaranteed by Valve is $1,600,000. The remainder is 25% of all Battle Pass sales, as well as additional purchases within the Battle Pass.
