Cameron Boozer turned 19 years and 103 days old into a line in the record book on Thursday night. The rookie forward became the second-youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double, finishing with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists as the Memphis Grizzlies rolled past the Portland Trail Blazers 124-103 on the road, pushing Memphis to a perfect 5-0 start.
Boozer, the third pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and currently the youngest player in the league, trails only Josh Giddey on the all-time youth list for a triple-double. Giddey was 19 years and 84 days old on Jan. 2, 2022, when he dropped 17 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists for the Oklahoma City Thunder in a loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Boozer’s version came in a win, making him the youngest player ever to post a triple-double on the winning side of a game.
A Frontcourt First
At 6-foot-8 and 250 pounds, Boozer also becomes the youngest frontcourt player to log a triple-double, surpassing San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama was 20 years and 6 days old on Jan. 10, 2024, when he put up 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a road win over the Detroit Pistons. Boozer’s build and skill set already draw comparisons to the French big man, and this result only strengthens that narrative.
Joining an Exclusive Five-Game Club
Thursday’s triple-double arrived in just Boozer’s fifth career game. Only three other players have reached the milestone that quickly. Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson did it in 1960 with the Cincinnati Royals. Art Williams, a former NBA champion, matched the feat in 1967 with the San Diego Rockets. Ben Simmons, a one-time All-NBA selection, accomplished it in 2017 with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The game featured two of the last three undefeated teams in the league. The Houston Rockets remain the only other unbeaten squad left in the NBA.
What’s Next for Memphis
The Grizzlies stay home Saturday night to host the 0-5 Sacramento Kings, a matchup that pits the league’s hottest start against one of its coldest. Boozer’s early-season production has already reshaped expectations for Memphis, and another standout performance would keep his name in the conversation for Rookie of the Year.
