Besiktas are closing in on Mohamed Salah, with reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes indicating that an agreement in principle has been reached on a €12 million-a-year contract, as the Egyptian seeks his next chapter after leaving Liverpool on a free transfer.

Salah, 34, departed Liverpool after nearly a decade at the club, having made 442 appearances, scored 257 goals and contributed 123 assists. His time at Anfield brought two Premier League titles and one Champions League. A trophyless 2025–26 campaign, combined with reported tensions behind the scenes, set the stage for his exit.

The proposed deal is structured around €10 million in fixed salary and €2 million in performance-related bonuses. Final contract details are yet to be formalised before an official announcement can be made.

Since leaving Liverpool, Salah turned his attention to Egypt’s World Cup campaign, which ended in a round-of-16 exit against Argentina. With the transfer market relatively quiet around him during that period, Besiktas have now moved to the front of the queue.

The Istanbul club beat out competition from fellow Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in the race for his signature. Salah would become Besiktas’s second major summer signing, following the agreement to bring in Leandro Trossard from Arsenal.

Saudi Arabia had been a persistent backdrop to Salah’s future for several years. Middle Eastern clubs were willing to present significant financial offers, but Salah chose to extend his Liverpool stay on an improved contract through 2027. More recently, reports suggested his wage demands may have complicated any potential Saudi move, clearing the path for Besiktas to act.

Besiktas Build Attacking Depth

The potential arrival of Salah alongside Trossard gives Besiktas a front line with considerable Premier League pedigree. Both wide players arrive with trophy credentials and proven quality at the highest level.

The same report also linked former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez with a move to Besiktas, which would potentially cut short his stint at Al-Hilal. If that move materialises, Besiktas’s attacking options would represent a serious statement of intent in Turkish football.

Besiktas last won the Turkish Super Lig in the 2020–21 season. With this level of investment in attacking talent, a renewed title challenge against Galatasaray and Fenerbahce is a credible ambition. Follow TipsGG for the latest updates as this deal moves toward completion.
