The international break has brought unwelcome news for Arsenal, with three of their key defenders picking up injuries. The Gunners, who have been one of the most solid defences in Europe, now face a nervous wait to see the extent of the damage.

Gabriel, the Brazilian centre-back, was the first to go down. He sustained a thigh injury during Brazil’s friendly against Senegal and missed the subsequent match against Tunisia. His partnership with William Saliba has been instrumental in Arsenal’s impressive start to the season, with the Gunners conceding just five goals in 11 games.

Full-back Riccardo Calafiori also withdrew from the Italy squad with a hip problem. Although there are hopes he could be available for Sunday’s North London derby against Tottenham, his absence would be a significant blow.

The latest worry came on Monday when Jurrien Timber was injured during the Netherlands‘s 4-0 win over Lithuania. The full-back suffered a deep cut to his leg and was replaced after 30 minutes, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming fixtures.

Arsenal’s Injury Crisis

Arsenal are already dealing with a number of injuries, with forwards Viktor Gyokores, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Noni Madueke, as well as midfielder Martin Odegaard, all sidelined. The last thing they need is for their defensive trio to join them on the treatment table.

International Break Highlights

While Arsenal fans fret over their team’s injury woes, the international break has provided plenty of talking points elsewhere. Erling Haaland continued his prolific form, scoring twice for Norway to help them qualify for the World Cup. Bruno Fernandes also impressed, netting a hat-trick for Portugal.

Chelsea‘s Estevao Willian scored for Brazil, while Newcastle‘s Nick Woltemade hit a hat-trick for Germany. The Netherlands secured their place in the tournament with goals from Xavi Simons, Cody Gakpo, Tijjani Reijnders, and Donyell Malen.

With so much at stake in the Premier League, Arsenal will be hoping their defensive issues are resolved quickly. The Gunners face Tottenham on Sunday, followed by a crucial Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
