Former England Striker Charged
Former Newcastle United, Liverpool, and England striker Andy Carroll is set to appear in court on Tuesday after being charged with breaching a non-molestation order.
The 36-year-old, who currently plays for National League South side Dagenham and Redbridge, was arrested in April. The alleged offence is said to have occurred in March.
Court Appearance Details
Carroll, who earned nine caps for England and was signed by Liverpool in 2011 for a then-club record fee of £35 million, is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court.
Essex Police stated: “A man has been charged with breaching a non-molestation order. Andrew Carroll, 36, of Epping, was arrested on April 27 and the alleged offences relate to an incident in March. He is due to appear at Chelmsford magistrates’ court on December 30.”
Understanding Non-Molestation Orders
A non-molestation order is a court injunction designed to prevent an individual from communicating with another person. It can also restrict someone from approaching a specific address or workplace.
The penalties for violating such an order can range from fines to imprisonment, with the most severe cases potentially resulting in up to five years in prison.
