The 2026 WTA Finals run from November 8 to 15 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California, and the venue switch is the story of this edition. The WTA and the Saudi Tennis Federation ended their three-year Riyadh hosting agreement a year early, bringing the season-ending championship back to the United States for the first time since 2005. Recent editions were staged in Riyadh, Cancún, Fort Worth, Guadalajara, Shenzhen and Singapore. This year marks the 55th singles championship and the 50th doubles championship.
| Dates | November 8-15, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Venue | Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Stadium 1 (16,000+ capacity) |
| Edition | 55th singles / 50th doubles championship |
| Field | Top 8 singles players and top 8 doubles teams of the season |
| Defending champion | Elena Rybakina (2025, beat Aryna Sabalenka in the final) |
Stadium 1 and the Desert Setting
Matches take place at Stadium 1, the same arena that hosts the BNP Paribas Open each spring. It seats more than 16,000 fans and ranks as the second-largest outdoor tennis stadium in the world. Indian Wells sits in the Coachella Valley, roughly 20 minutes from Palm Springs International Airport. Public transit in the area is limited, so renting a car or booking a rideshare from the airport is the practical way in.
The Field: Rybakina Leads, Sabalenka Chases
Elena Rybakina arrives as the woman to beat. She won both the 2026 Australian Open and the U.S. Open, beating Aryna Sabalenka in both finals, and claimed the No. 1 ranking for the first time in her career after the title in New York. She also took her first WTA Finals crown in 2025, again at Sabalenka’s expense. We think she is the clear favorite at this venue.
Sabalenka has her own case. She won at Indian Wells earlier this year and completed the Sunshine Double by taking the Miami title as well. Honestly, a player with two Slam final losses to Rybakina this season will be desperate for a third shot.
Coco Gauff, the 2024 champion, enters on a strong second-half run: a Wimbledon semi-final, the furthest of her career, a title in Cincinnati and another semi-final at the U.S. Open.
- Mirra Andreeva makes her Finals debut after breaking through with her first Grand Slam title at Roland-Garros.
- Karolína Muchová is also a debutant.
- Linda Nosková, the Wimbledon winner, completes the trio of first-timers.
Jessica Pegula and Elina Svitolina round out the eight-woman field.
