UFC Freedom 250 is shaping up to be the biggest event in the promotion’s history. UFC president Dana White has repeatedly stated he expects the card to break records, backing that confidence by personally inviting a roster of high-profile celebrities to attend the June 14 event on the South Lawn of the White House.
White confirmed he personally extended invitations to actors Adam Sandler, Jason Statham, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Mario Lopez, recording artists Guy Ritchie and Jared Leto, and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. The celebrity guest list was clearly designed to amplify the occasion’s scale.
According to Aidan McLaughlin of Vanity Fair, several of those names will not be in attendance.
“A source close to The Rock tells Vanity Fair that he will not be attending. Representatives for Sandler, Leto, and Lopez say they won’t be either. Reps for the others did not respond to multiple requests for comment. The White House and UFC did not respond to requests for comment about the guest list.”
The card was created to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. Held at the White House South Lawn, it marks the first combat sports event staged there since Theodore Roosevelt hosted boxing matches during his presidency — a genuine historical footnote that sets this night apart from any standard pay-per-view.
