This game is set to be the closest and most exciting fixture at the start of the eighth round of the summer season. Both teams made the playoffs in the last edition, and have started off in style this time around. From a results perspective though, Vitality haven’t hit the kind of rate that they might have at some other time for the kind of flair and genius they have shown the capability for so far. Rogue haven’t been quite as flashy, but they’ve certainly been more effective and are on top of the leaderboard as they return from this break.

Team Vitality haven’t been consistent, but they haven’t been too subtle either. They’re doing more damage per minute – 2497 – than any other team in the season at the moment. But that has been about the only remarkable part about their season so far, which is still begging to be propelled onto the next level.
On the balance of it, Vitality have had a net positive start – more wins than losses, a gold differential at 15 minutes of +632, an average tower difference of +2, and a 60% win rate when they’re ahead at the 15-minute mark are all solid metrics to possess; but being Team Vitality comes with its own expectations and those expectations are from being met just yet. There is time, however, for that to change.
Rogue
Rogue are sitting pretty at the top, with two of the best players in the season so far on their roster in Comp and Larssen, both of whom are operating at KDAs of over 5 at the moment. Their biggest focus is likely to be on solidifying themselves in defense and improving on the average deaths per game of 12.1 that they currently possess, which is on the higher side in comparison to some of the other teams that are close to them on the table.
Apart from that, they’ve been top notch, particularly in the gold per minute measure which currently sits at 1858 and is part of the upper tier in the season. A lot of their play has also revolved around being top class when it comes to towers: their towers killed average is currently at 7.6, which is behind only Team Vitality’s 8. That sort of a match-up is why we think this will be Friday’s most interesting game.

I’d say Rogue are marginal favorites and that’s where my money would go, but do not sleep on Team Vitality’s ability. At their best, they could more than just match Rogue for quality; your bet, in essence, will be on whether they can be at their best this weekend.
