T1 and G2 Esports are not strangers when it comes to facing off in the semifinals of international events, it’s already the third time both teams will play for a spot in the Grand Final of an international event, and G2 Esports got the better of T1 in both previous occasions.

Not many teams can say they have the success versus T1 especially when it comes to a best-of-five as G2 Esports can. The LEC champions will look to continue their best-of-five win streak versus T1 alive while the LCK Superteam will try to prove why they were clearly seen as the best team in the World before MSI 2022.

Without further ado, let’s get into the strengths and weaknesses of each team, and what are the X-factors of both squads.

One of the main strengths of T1 is their early game, the LCK champions and labeled by many the best team in the world, are great when it comes to creating advantages in the laning phase.

This happens because they have very talented and skilled individuals, that are able to create gold leads just based on their farm advantages, plates advantages, and overall best landing phase.

Keria and Gumayusi have been one of the best botlane duos in the world especially when it comes to the laning phase and the 2v2.

However, in the Rumble Stage T1 botlane didn’t look that strong, even falling behind in some matchups that normally they get ahead even if they are counter matchups.

Zeus has been looking really strong in the top lane as has been the only T1 player that didn’t really seem to have a dip in performance when it comes to what he had shown us domestically.

He continues to pick very carry top lane champions and so far has been able to deliver so expect him to have a very important role in this series.

In the mid-lane match up we have two of the best to ever do it, but currently, I have Caps as the best individual player. Don’t get me wrong Fakler is still a great mid laner and can impact a game, but Caps impact on G2 Esports is bigger than the one of Faker on T1.

Faker is no longer that very lane dominant player, and is focused more on getting his solo lanes ahead on TF, or finding a good roam with his Galio or Sylas in the bot or top side of the map.

When it comes to team fights he is very reliable and the fact is such an experienced player in a team of great players but he still doesn’t have that much international experience, which makes his presence even more important.

Oner is a very good jungle, and in ways is the engine that makes T1 early game good form good to great. Playing manly early game-focused jungles such as Lee Sin, Xin Zhao, Viego, and Poopy, the South Korean player is able to impact the lanes early in the game,  with some good dives or counter ganks oner helping T1 accelerate their leas in the early game.

The keyword for T1 is early-game. If they can create leads similar to what they did in the LCK Playoffs it’s going to be very hard for G2 Esports to come back.

However, they need to polish their mid-game since the games they lost in the Rumble stage were all due to mid-game errors, either taking team fights they shouldn’t or starting objectives when they didn’t have the vision control or when they take team fights at a certain time or place where the enemy has the advantage.

G2 Esports had an amazing start to the Rumble Stage, defeating T1 and RNG and showing they are a title contender at this edition of MSI.

Their mid and late game has been really great, and Caps seems to be back to his alter ego Claps, having a lot of impact roaming and setting up great plays for his teammates, as well as finding some good 1v1 kills in the mid lane and outplays to get out of tricky situations.

When it comes to their drafts G2 Esports have also done a great job, aside from some Kalista and Ezreal picks that didn’t really work out, the LEC champions know how to draft well, and most importantly they know how to execute their composition in-game.

If T1 early game is amazing, then G2 Esports has a solid early game, they normally aren’t ahead a lot at the 14-minute mark, but if you give them the chances to take early leads they will convert them and use it to stabilize the mid-game, arriving at the late game earlier in a sense where they get to their items picks early and are able to execute their great late-game fighting and macro game very well and dominating the game.

But normally G2 Esports will come out of the early game with a deficit, but one that is not that big, let’s say 2/3k gold behind, which if you take into account they normally run late-game centered composition is actually not that bad and will allow them to reach the late game in a position to team fight around objectives without behind tho far behind in gold and items.

In my opinion, the X-factor for G2 Esports will be their bot lane. Flakked and Targamas have been performing above expectations and will have to continue to do so.

If Flakked can play the team fights as well as he did in the LEC playoffs, and not be exploited that much in the bot lane 2v2 then G2 Esports really has a good chance at defeating T1.

I think G2 Esports has a really good shot at beating T1, and wouldn’t be surprised if this series goes to five games.

But in Busan, with a South Korean crown on their back and yet to be defeated in a best of five series I see T1 winning this series.

Their bot lane will demonstrate why they were seen as the best bot lane in the world, and I don’t think T1 will commit as many mistakes as they did in the Rumble Stage.

One thing is for sure, this has all the ingredients to be a banger five games series, and we will see some of the best League of Legends this year so far.
