G2 Esports are living up to their reputation of being slow starters during the league stages by…well, starting slow. They have four wins from seven games in the summer season so far, which isn’t too far removed from the pattern they followed when they went onto win in the spring season not too long ago. That victory was based on ruthless dominance in the playoff stage after just an above-par league stage performance which involved 11 wins and seven losses.
Their opponents, SK Gaming, have also more or less stayed true to the pattern they displayed during the spring season and would probably win polls this season about which team has been the worst team in the summer. G2 Esports will likely have an easy introduction back into the LEC after the long break.

SK gaming have a KD ratio of 0.49, which makes them about thrice as bad as Excel Esports who have the best KD ratio (1.56), almost twice as worse as Team Vitality (0.94) who are joint-second in terms of games won, and about 1.6x worse than Team BDS, which is the only other team to have won only once in the summer season.
With that being said, it is important to mention that their only win was in their earlier fixture against G2 Esports. Whether they have the wares to pull off another win like that is not a very difficult conversation – they don’t, unless they’re operating at least a whole level above what they currently are. G2 Esports have managed more average kills than anyone else this season, with 16.6 per game. This game boils down to the most adept team offensively this season taking on the most inept one defensively; it will be heavily tilted against SK Gaming.

As I’ve mentioned earlier, G2 Esports have been one of deadliest sides to come up against this season, with a stunning damage per minute column that reads 2335 ahead of this weekend – the second highest in the league after Team Vitality.
Still, they’re in a position where that could all mean little if they end up losing two more games. They’re in the top 6 but staying there won’t be as easy as getting there has been as teams come back from a break.
