Masters 2: Copenhagen Teams Power Ranking Part 2

6 – LOUD

The Brazilian superteam has returned to the international stage after their tremendous performance in Masters 1: Reykjavik. The organization once again dominated the domestic scene and has cemented itself as the strongest team in the Brazilian region. Although they, unfortunately, got seeded into the Groups Stages in Masters 2: Copenhagen, it is expected for this team to qualify for the playoffs. Considering that we have seen this roster succeed on the international stage before, we might be able to see Brazil in another global grand final again.

5 – FunPlus Pheonix

FunPlus Pheonix has finally made it to their first international event, considering that during Masters 1: Reykjavik, the team could not participate due to Visa issues. The roster managed to fight through a cutthroat EMEA region, defeating the likes of M3 Champions and former Champions winner Acend to qualify for Copenhagen. Despite their successes, FunPlus Pheonix will be running into a slight roadblock as Dmitry “SUYGETSU” Ilyushin will be unable to participate with the team due to visa issues be replaced by Mathias “SEIDER” Seider. While the organization hopes that SUYGETSU could obtain his visa before the playoffs stage, there is no guarantee that he will. While the expectations for FunPlus Pheonix are high, they will have a difficult path during the group and playoffs stage with the recurring visa issues.

4 – Paper Rex

The APAC champions have returned to the global stage and are here to prove the doubters wrong. Paper Rex has dominated the APAC scene and cemented itself as the strongest APAC team for the 2022 VCT Circuit. After multiple disappointing finishes in Masters events, the organization is looking to earn APAC its first international title. Paper Rex has proven itself to compete against the best in the world and has gained automatic qualification into the playoffs stage. The Singaporean organization enters Masters 2: Copenhagen as one of the favorites to lift the trophy.

3 – OpTic Gaming

The Masters 1: Reykjavik champions have returned but have not shown the dominant form we saw a few months ago. A disappointing loss to XSET in the NA Challengers Grand Finals has placed the returning champs into the Group Stage where we have seen OpTic stumble before. While some may put the loss against XSET due to some players testing positive with Covid, it is clear that OpTic are not as strong as they were before. The Green Wall returns to the international stage as a heavy favorite to lift the title in Copenhagen but has some difficult competition heading into the tournament.

2 – XSET

The newly crowned North American champions have finally qualified for their first international event after consecutive heartbreaking losses in the NA playoffs. The young core of XSET enters the tournament with a chip on their shoulder, hungry to prove themselves as the best in the world. While the team lacks international experience, they will be looking to avoid the same path The Guard took in Masters 1: Reykjavik. XSET will be looking to cement a strong start in the tournament and will be looking to dominate the other teams in the tournament with their style of play.

1 – Fnatic

It has been a while since we have seen an EMEA this dominant entering Masters 2: Copenhagen. Fnatic is entering the tournament as the favorites after sweeping the likes of Guild Esports and FunPlus Pheonix during the EMEA Challenger Playoffs. Fnatic will be looking to reclaim the international crown and is hoping to translate its domestic form into the global stage.
