MAD Lions vs Fnatic Match Prediction LEC 2022 Summer

23.06.2022, 12:00

Week two of the LEC is almost here and we will finally be able to see the best League of Legends teams in Europe battle each other again.

After a great week one, which had 3 match days since it was the LEC super week, we are back to the regular schedule of two match days per week until the last week of the Split.

On paper, we have some exciting matches and others that seem to have very clear-cut winners.

Without further ado, let’s get right into the prediction of what in my opinion will be the match of the week, MAD Lions vs Fnatic will see two teams with championship aspirations face each other.

MAD Lions vs Fnatic Match Prediction

MAD Lions vs Fnatic is already a LEC classic and one of the biggest rivalries in the league.

Since entering the league in 2019 MAD Lions has always been one of the best teams in the league, with the exception of the last Split where the team failed to make playoffs for the first time in their history.

That lead to a roster change, and it was a massive improvement, with Nisqy coming back into the LEC to take the mid-lane slot at MAD Lions and hopefully lead the team to the success they are used to.

Fnatic has the same roster as they did in the Spring Split, and are hoping this time they can claim the title after a disappointing playoff run in the Spring Split.

Both teams come into week two with a 2-1 scoreline, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

MAD Lions should have gone undefeated on week one, their only loss came against Rogue in a game where they dominated the early game, finding plays with Nisqy roaming, getting a lot of objectives, and always having drake control.

At 23 minutes into the game, they already had secured the infernal soul and had a 5k gold lead. They secured the Baron and the game looked more than done, however, they weren’t able to close out the game with the Baron buff.

Then a 50-50 Elder Dragon smite fight decided the game with Rogue ADC Comp securing the elder dragon for his team, which lead to Rogue winning the team fight and marching into MAD Lions base winning the game, it was a robbery in broad daylight.

MAD Lions victories came against Team Vitality and BDS and were two convincing ones.

Fnatic defeated Rogue and SK Gaming, with the performance versus Rogue not being a brilliant one, as Rogue was in control of the game when a fight around the blue buff erupted in which Fnatic came out on top, and was able to translate the team fight win into a Baron, taking control of the game.

Excell was the team that defeat Fnatic in a game where the organization from the United Kingdom was always one step ahead. With a good early game, good roams by nukeduck, and very well played out team fights, with Patrik playing like the Superstar ADC he is, Fnatic was never in control of the game.

MAD Lions early game has been really good so far, and it’s actually very entertaining to watch this team play. They are not afraid to pull the trigger, and Nisqy roaming ability as a player generates even more plays, as the very experienced mid-laner has been able to find a lot of success when he leaves his lane in order to find a play in the side lanes.

Where the team really shines is in the team fights. MAD Lions continues to be one of the best team fighting teams in the LEC, and with a late-game meta currently in the LEC, this gives the squad a chance to draft for a more late-game team fight kinda composition which obviously benefits them a lot.

As for Fnatic, their early game hasn’t been great, but it has also not been disastrous.

However, the landing bot lane dominance that Fnatic usually shows has not been present so far, and that was one of the main ways Fnatic found advantages.

While MAD Lions bot lane has performed really well, especially UNF0RGIVEN who has been playing at a star level and will for sure give the Fnatic team a hard time.

The draft will play a big role in this game and will be interesting to see how both teams will adapt throughout it.

I think MAD Lions is currently a better team, they seem to understand how to execute their compositions, and every player is performing at a high level currently.

They are also a better team fighting team than Fnatic, and despite sometimes making a mistake or two in the draft phase, they have been drafting well so far.

For Fnatic, they will have to reach the form they were in at the beginning of the Spring Split, if they can do that they will have a great shot at winning this game.

It’s a best of one so anything can happen, so if you are going to bet on this game I advise you to wait for the drafts.
