Both MAD Lions and Astralis come into this game with victories on Friday. MAD Lions beat Team BDS to climb into fourth place, and Astralis pulled off one of the big upsets to beat Excel Esports and climb into the playoff spots.
MAD Lions vs Astralis Match Prediction
MAD Lions
Having finished last season outside the playoff spots with eight wins and 10 losses, MAD Lions would’ve headed into this season with the hope of making that right this time and they’re off to a good start with five wins out of their eight games. Their underlying metrics suggest they probably could have got more wins so far with a healthier KD Ratio than some of the teams above them on the table at the minute at 1.18. They’ve managed to get 12.4 kills per game and 10.6 deaths per game. With a few improvements, they can really go on to great things.
Bot laner, UNF0RGIVEN, has been really impressive all year. He has averaged 4.52 kills, 2.08 deaths, 4.76 assists and had a KDA of 4.46. If he keeps this up and gets some help, MAD Lions could face up to any team in the league.
Astralis
Astralis were by far the poorest side last season, winning three and losing 15 matches. They have come leaps and bounds since then, thanks to an influx of quality in the top laner, jungler and support spots. They have already managed to better their win record from last season with less than half the games played. Winning four games might not be a lot for other sides but there’s optimism around their camp at the moment – especially after that result last night – and it’ll help them in the tournament going forward. Their stats don’t really stand out with a KD ratio of 1 but the small steps help and they’re making them. They still head into this match as underdogs but can definitely have a go at MAD Lions, who are far from the best side in the league and only one spot above them.

This is an interesting match to observe as both sides have made improvements this season and will be hoping to make a mark – Astralis, in particular, will be full of confidence. For now, MAD Lions might still have the edge.
