Liverpool are confident of tying down Rio Ngumoha to a new contract, even as reports link the teenage winger with a move to Arsenal. Football Insider indicates the club expects to retain him for the long term, brushing aside speculation from North London.

Ngumoha has quickly become one of the most talked-about young talents in English football. He made 29 appearances across all competitions last season after signing his first professional deal at just 17 years old. His current contract runs until 2028, but Liverpool want that extended well before it becomes a pressing issue.

Talks were reportedly planned earlier in the summer, though negotiations have stalled since then. There is now renewed urgency inside the club to secure his signature on a long-term deal, protecting one of the country’s most promising academy products and keeping his development on track at Anfield.

Liverpool Unfazed by Arsenal Links

Despite the noise surrounding Arsenal’s interest, Liverpool remain relaxed about Ngumoha’s future. Interest from a club of Arsenal’s stature would turn the head of almost any young English player, but Liverpool have shown no willingness to entertain a sale.

Similar concerns surfaced when Liverpool pursued Bradley Barcola, yet neither the club nor the player seemed rattled at the time. The arrivals of Barcola and Munoz could reduce Ngumoha’s minutes on paper, but he has already started three of Liverpool’s six matches this season.

He has also been deployed on the right wing, a role less natural to him than his usual left-sided position. The experiment suggests the club values his versatility and wants him adapting to different roles early in his career. Liverpool are expected to open formal discussions with his representatives soon over an extension. So far, nothing suggests Ngumoha is unhappy or considering an exit.

Will Arsenal Continue the Rio Ngumoha Pursuit?

Arsenal have been hunting for a new left winger since Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli both departed over the summer. The signing of Christos Tzolis addressed part of that gap, but questions remain over whether Arsenal left themselves short at that position.

Ngumoha represents an intriguing target for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta could view the 18-year-old as a long-term project capable of contributing real minutes, not just a squad depth signing. Until Liverpool get pen to paper on a new deal, Arsenal are expected to keep tracking his situation.
