A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, Walker-Peters brings valuable Premier League experience to the Hammers. He clocked over 200 appearances for Southampton, featuring in 33 league matches last season before the Saints suffered an early relegation—marking the earliest drop in Premier League history.

The two-time England cap holder, who made his international debut in 2022, expressed his delight at sealing the move to East London: “It feels like it has been a long time coming—I’ve been linked with a move to the club in the past—and I’m just happy to be here now,” Walker-Peters said.

He also credited new Hammers boss Graham Potter as a major influence in the switch: “I spoke to Graham Potter and he was a big, big part of me making the decision. I’ve always liked his style as a coach, and I think it will suit me well.”

West Ham, who endured a tough 2024–25 campaign finishing 14th, kick off the new Premier League season on August 16 with an away clash against newly promoted Sunderland. With the addition of a seasoned and versatile full-back like Walker-Peters, fans will be eager to see if Potter’s tactical nous can steer the Hammers back toward the top half of the table.
