Gen.G has continued their Valorant roster rebuild after parting ways with longtime member Shawn “Shawn” O’Riley, just a week after releasing former member Bryce “PureR” Lovell from the active roster.

Shawn joined Gen.G in October 2020, right before one of the biggest Valorant tournaments of 2020, First Strike: North America. Shawn and Gen.G would play in First Strike but fail to qualify for the main event after losing to FaZe Clan. 2021 would be the best year for Shawn and Gen.G, where they would place third in Masters 1: North America and would place top six in Stage 3: Challengers 1 and 2 and even earn a spot in Last Chance Qualifiers NA but would fail to make a spot in any international tournaments of 2021.
Heading into the 2022 VCT Circuit, Gen.G would revamp their roster with Shawn but fail to impact the North American scene. They lost to Soniqs and Renegades in the open qualifiers of Stage 1: Challengers. Their season would end after losing to 100 Thieves and Built By Gamers Academy in Stage 2: Challengers Open Qualifiers.
It is clear by these roster moves that Gen.G is rebuilding a roster for the 2023 VCT Circuit and have been seen trialing Edmon “snirot” Ghanem and Dayton “Lear” Akau in the MEL Premiership. Gen.G will play against SoaR in the MEL Premiership on Friday, June 24th.
With Shawn’s removal, Gen.G is now:
- Noah “jcStani” Smith
- Nicholas “NaturE” Garrison
- Emir “rhyme” Muminovic
- Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit (Coach)
- Brandon “Traumist” Reyes (Assistant Coach)
