A match that would determine the first seed from Group A had the EMEA second seed FunPlus Phoenix facing off the Korean super team DRX.

When it comes to the maps DRX picked Haven, and FunPlus Phoenix choose Fracture. Breeze would be the decider if necessary.

Haven

On Haven, DRX started off really strong securing the pistol round.

But FunPlus Phoenix managed to win the following eco round, which put DRX in a hard place when it came to their economy.

However, the Korean super team managed to bounce back and won the following three rounds and now had a conformable 4-1 lead.

The EMEA vice-champions went on a three-round streak of their own, not letting DRX run away with the game, mostly because of Shao who was having an amazing performance.

DRX finished the half strong winning three of the last four rounds, and we went into halftime with a 7-5 scoreline in favor of the Korean team.

In the second half, FunPlus Phoenix completely dominated the game.

With Shao firing up on all cylinders, and FunPlus Phoenix playing really well defensively, with some good retakes and site holds, DRX was only able to win one round in their attacking half.

With a dominant performance from Shao who was the main factor behind FunPlus Phoenix great second half, the EMEA squad won the map 13-8 and drew first blood in the series.

Fracture

This time it was FunPlus Phoenix who won the pistol round and also secured the eco round.

However, in the gun rounds, DRX completely dominated, taking control of the game.

The Korean team utility use was amazing, always setting up a teammate and helping Rb to succeed on the Neon.

DRX was also doing a great job taking control of the map early in the round, and their executes into the sites were very clean.

At halftime, DRX was up 9-3 and looked poised to win Fracture and take us to Breeze.

DRX secured the pistol and eco round and the map was basically over.

FunPlus Phoenix still tried to come back, winning three rounds in a row. But it was too little too late.

The Korean team closed out the map 13-6 and we were heading into Breeze.

Breeze

FunPlus Phoenix won the pistol round and the eco round, and that’s the start you want in a deciding map.

However, DRX carried its momentum from Fracture and their gun rounds on the attacking side continued to be amazing.

They spent a lot of resources on gaining control of mid almost every round, and after they would decide which site they would execute into.

Once again their utility use was amazing, and they were also winning almost all the aim duels.

It looked like DRX was the far better team on Breeze, and the Korean super-team took a 9-3 lead into the second half.

The pistol round was a must-win for FunPlus Phoenix if they wanted to at least dream of having a chance of winning this map.

Unfortunately for the EMEA squad, DRX secured the pistol and eco round, and similar to Fracture it seemed a question of time until DRX closed out the map.

Eventually, DRX won Breeze 13-6 with another dominant performance and is the second team to qualify for the playoffs.
