The LEC 2022 Summer Season has been underway for almost a month now, with that infamous big break in the middle over the last few weeks due to the tournament’s organizers and producers being on vacation.
Excel Esports vs Astralis Match Prediction
To kick things off again, Excel Esports will play against Astralis at the start of this weekend’s round. Excel Esports are table-toppers at the moment, alongside Rogue and Fnatic, having won all but five of their matches so far. For Astralis, things aren’t quite as peachy. They’re outside the playoff spots and looking upwards, without having found the momentum to match their ambitions.
Excel Esports
Excel Esports have managed to find a very effective chemistry with the players at their disposal. Bot laner Patrik has led the way with a KDA of 4.12, but it’s the underlying team metrics that tell the real story of their fairly dominant start to the season so far. When they’re ahead at the 15-minute mark, for example, they have never lost. Effectively, if you don’t manage to get on top of Excel Esports in the early stages of a match, you stand very little chance of coming back to win.
This can be further visualized if you take a look at the damage per minute that they’re inflicting – 2168. An average like that denotes just how much a team is likely to be behind by the time that 15-minute mark hits, and subsequently how difficult it can be to be at full force again. They’re a difficult opponent to face right now and favorites to be around when the business end of the tournament comes.
Astralis
Astralis were the poorest side in the last edition, and have already matched the win record that they achieved in that edition. In that regard, this season is already an improvement and one in which they can still realistically hope to make it to the playoffs at what is now the halfway stage. Given that they’ve had to change how their line-up looks with the additions in the top laner, support, and jungler departments, the LEC summer has certainly been a step forward for Astralis. New jungler Xerxe has averaged 2.71 kills and 6 assists while going at an impressive KDA of 5.55. There is little doubt he’s been the find of the season for them, but there are more concerning things to be thinking about right now. Their average tower difference sits at -1.7 right now, and a decent first blood rate of 57.1% is all but negated by the fact that their kills per game and deaths per game are both at 11.9 ahead of this weekend.
