DWG KIA vs DRX Match Prediction

While DWG KIA comes from a great week three, where they defeated KT Rolster 2-0, and Nongshim RedForce also by 2-0, getting back to the victories after going 0-2 in week two, DRX had an awful week three.
The team was actually undefeated coming into week three but lost against Liiv SANDBOX 2-1 which ended their undefeated streak.
Following their loss to Liiv SANDBOX, DRX faced the reigning LCK champions T1 and despite a good performance in game one they still ended up losing the game.
T1 dominated game two and handed DRX their second loss of the season. For a team that still didn’t have lost a series coming into week three DRX left with not one but two losses.
DWG KIA is looking better and better with the passing of time, especially their bot lane duo of deokdam and Kellin, who had a great series versus Nongshim RedForce.
When it comes to the early game DWG KIA has been showing solid early game performances. Their average gold lead is 740 at the 14-minute mark, and when they get ahead in the early game they win 85.7% of the time.

Their first tower percentage is okay at 53.8, and their first blood rate is actually not that great at 46.2.
However, DWG KIA truly shines when it comes to the mid-game, especially in team fighting around objectives.
DWG KIA is also very good when it comes to skirmishes, being it a 2v2 or a 3v3 they normally find a way to come out on top and are not afraid to pull the trigger.

Individually all the players are performing at a good level, but Canyon and ShowMaker have been putting on a show, playing at an MVP caliber, and are the engine of this team.
As for the drafting phase, DWG KIA continues to expand their champion pool, with Canyon having played with eleven champions so far, and being able to find impact with all of them.
All of the players from the team have a big champion pool, which makes it very hard to draft against them.

DWG KIA has also been very proficient at executing their compositions, knowing what are their strengths and weakness, and being able to play around them.
Now let’s talk about DRX. Their start to the season was an amazing one but their schedule wasn’t the hardest one.
Since then they have played Liiv SANDBOX, a team with playoff aspirations, and T1 the reigning champions.
Even though they looked good versus T1 in the early game on game one they still let that game slip from them.
T1 was just team fighting better than DRX, and DRX also made some very questionable decisions when it came to the objectives like Drake or Baron that allowed T1 to get back into the game.

DRX early game is actually a decent one, very similar to DWG KIA early game when it comes to just stats.
They have an average gold lead of 659 at the 14-minute mark and have a 72.7% win rate when ahead at the 15-minute mark.

When it comes to the first tower rate they have a 57.1%, and a 50% first blood rate.
So you can see both teams have a solid early game.
But it’s on the mid-game and decision-making that I think DRX falters.
While DWG KIA has a good macro play, with great cross-map plays, and understands when to fight and most importantly when not to.
DRX makes some big mistakes in the mid-game, especially around objectives, and sometimes pres the trigger too early or in situations where they don’t have the advantage.
Draft wise the team isn’t the most flexible one. Despite having a big champion pool, they are very limited in some roles, and some champions haven’t worked really well for the team in the recent past.

However, they still draft well most of the time, but I think they will have a hard time drafting against such a talented and versatile team as DWG KIA.

This has the potential to be a very entertaining series, or a dominant series win by DWG KIA. I see DWG KIA, as a team that has been getting better and better each week, and only T1 and Geng.G are better than them currently.
It would be surprising if DWG KIA loses this series, but I can see them drop a map if DRX is able to have a great early game as they did in game one against T1 and don’t drop the ball in the mid-game.
