Chelsea are eyeing a summer move for 19-year-old Argentine playmaker Tomas Aranda from Boca Juniors, joining a crowded field of suitors for one of South America’s most-watched young talents.

According to Argentine outlet El Intransigente, Arsenal and Liverpool are also tracking Aranda, alongside Bayer Leverkusen, Como, Corinthians, City Football Group, Inter Milan, Parma, and Sao Paulo FC. His contract at Boca Juniors includes a $20 million release clause.

Who Is Tomas Aranda?

Born in Ciudadela, Aranda came through Boca Juniors’ academy and has since broken into the first-team squad at the Alberto J. Armando Stadium. His performances have earned him a senior international call-up for Argentina.

This season he has logged over 2,000 minutes across 32 appearances, contributing two goals and three assists. That output, combined with his age, has placed him on the radar of some of Europe’s most ambitious clubs.

Premier League Move on the Horizon?

Chelsea’s activity in the South American market has intensified in recent years. The West Londoners have developed a pattern of signing young talent from the continent, with Estevao among the success stories. Aranda’s profile fits a similar developmental pathway, and the club’s structure under Xabi Alonso could suit his style.

Arsenal’s pursuit carries clear logic. The Gunners need a creative midfielder after Martin Odegaard’s recurring fitness issues across two seasons and Eberechi Eze’s underwhelming debut campaign. Aranda represents a long-term option in the final third, particularly given their failure to sign Morgan Rogers.

Liverpool’s interest is harder to read. Manager Andoni Iraola already has established playmakers available, and while Aranda can operate on the left flank, the depth provided by Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai means a specialist winger would address a more pressing need.

The $20 million release clause simplifies the transfer mechanics considerably. Boca Juniors have previously signalled reluctance to sell the teenager, but a contractual clause of that value means any club willing to meet the fee can force the move through regardless of the Argentine club’s preferences.
