North American Challengers League Spring 2023 is an A-Tier tournament in League of Legends and one of the biggest in the world when it comes to North America, and we will have 16 teams going head to head fighting for a 100.000 dollars prize pool. Out of the 16 teams participating in this tournament, 10 are challengers teams, and came from the Academy: 100 Thieves, Cloud9, Team Liquid, CLG, Dignitas, Evil Geniuses, FlyQuest, Golden Guardians, Immortals, and Team Solomid. And 6 teams are provisional teams and were invited from the organization from the tournament. They are not academy teams: CLG Faith, FlyQuest FAM, Team Liquid First, Wildcard Gaming, AOE Esports and Cincinnati Fear. This tournament has 2 stages, the group stage and the playoffs stage.
In the group stage, all 16 teams will participate in a single round robin group stage, all matches being BO2, so we can definitely have some tied games, which means that every single team will play against each other once and one time only, and every single team in this group stage will make 15 matches at total since we have 16 teams. And bottom 4 provisional teams will be qualified for the promotion tournament, that will take place later in April joining top 4 challengers league qualifiers team that qualified and the bottom 4 non-academy teams of NACL Spring 2023 qualify, which is this tournament. All teams however, will qualify into playoffs.
In the playoffs we will be having a double elimination bracket, and all 16 teams will face each other starting in the upper bracket round 1, and the losers will be going straight away into the lower bracket. Since it´s a double elimination format, there will be second chances for teams already with a loss, because only 2 losses will get you off the competition. The upper bracket final´s winner, and the undefeated team of the tournament so far, will be facing the lower bracket final´s winner, which will be a team already with a single loss. Both those teams will face in a thrilling Grand Final, and the winner from this Grand Final will be crowned NACL Spring 2023, and will win the biggest prize of 30.000 dollars.
