LEC in 2023 is widened with new regions and as of now E will stand for Europe, CIS, Turkiye, and MENA (middle-east Africa) regions. This season will be divided into 3 splits - Winter, Spring, Summer, and Season Falls.
Each Split will also consist of 3 stages which will guarantee more BO3 and BO5 games. The first stage will take 3 weeks and will be played in BO1 single, round-robin format. The next 3 weeks will consist of BO3 and BO5 games.
The best 8 teams from the round-robin stage will qualify for the group stage where they will be separated into 2 groups and will compete in the double-elimination BO3 series. In the end, 4 teams will emerge to compete in the BO5 playoffs of the Split.
There was also a slight shuffling of teams playing in LEC. We will no longer see Misfits but in their place Team Heretics came. Also current defending champions - ROGUE - underwent a rebranding and now are known as KOI.
