The 2023 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is the primary competition for League of Legends esports in South Korea. Contested by ten teams, the league runs two splits per year and offers two spots at the League of Legends World Championship. The LCK 2023 season will kick off on March 22nd and conclude on April 9th.
The top eight teams from the regular season will advance to the playoffs, with the top four teams passing straight to the semifinals and the bottom four teams competing in the quarterfinals. The LCK 2023 playoffs will be a single-elimination bracket, and the finals will be a best-of-five series. Current participants are: Kwangdong Freecs, DRX, Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, KT Rolster, Liiv SANDBOX, Nongshim RedForce, Dplus KIA, T1, and Fredit Brion.
Given its historical dominance, LCK is widely considered to be the strongest League of Legends competition in the world. As LCK is home to multiple long-standing esports dynasties such as T1, Samsung White, and Samsung Galaxy, it's both feared and revered by other regions - including their closest competitor, LPL. As League of Legends Worlds 2023 was a story about the Korean team DRX beating all odds and making history by being the first team in history to pass through play-ins and claim the title of the world champions, the opening split of LCK 2023 will be just as exciting. Will DRX be able to hold on to their title after massive changes to their roster?
