Key Betting Angles
With six Round of 16 results in the books and the quarter-finals taking shape, several compelling narratives and value situations are emerging across the bracket.
- Erling Haaland is unstoppable — and Norway are gathering momentum. The Manchester City striker scored twice late on to dump Brazil out (79′, 90′), having already struck in the Round of 32 against Ivory Coast. Norway now face England in the quarter-finals, and Haaland in this form is the most dangerous individual in the competition. Back him to score at any point in that tie with full confidence.
- Spain are clinical and difficult to score against. La Roja swept aside Austria 3–0 in the last 32, then eliminated Portugal at the death through Merino’s 90+1′ winner. They have conceded zero goals across both knockout matches. Belgium, their quarter-final opponents, scored four against the USA but needed extra time to see off Senegal — their defensive record is considerably shakier.
- Morocco are in electrifying form. After surviving a penalty shootout-threatened extra-time clash with the Netherlands in the last 32, they dismantled Canada 3–0 in the Round of 16 — Ounahi scored twice. The Atlas Lions now face France in the last eight and arrive as a genuine upset threat, having already demonstrated they can beat a quality European side.
- England showed real character against Mexico. Jude Bellingham scored twice inside two minutes (36′, 38′) and Harry Kane added a penalty in a 3–2 win at the Estadio Azteca — a hostile environment by any measure. Their reward is a quarter-final tie with a Norway side playing the football of their lives, making that clash one of the most evenly poised of the round.
- Belgium are a high-scoring, high-risk proposition. Their run to the last eight has been eventful — extra time against Senegal and a dominant 4–1 win over the USA — and De Ketelaere has been outstanding alongside Lukaku. A quarter-final showdown with an organised Spain side sets up as a classic big-match encounter where goals at both ends look a credible outcome given both teams’ attacking output.
