Key Betting Angles
Norway’s Haaland is the tournament’s most dangerous weapon. Erling Haaland scored twice in the final eleven minutes to topple Brazil — one of the pre-tournament favourites — netting both against Norway’s Round of 32 opponents Ivory Coast as well. That is four goals in two knockout matches, and Norway are now confirmed quarter-finalists. Any market involving Norway goals or Haaland as anytime scorer deserves serious consideration.
France are ruthless and clean. Les Bleus have won both knockout matches without conceding — a 3–0 demolition of Sweden followed by a controlled 1–0 defeat of Paraguay. Mbappé has been on the scoresheet in each fixture, and France’s defensive structure has been watertight throughout. Backing France to win to nil or Mbappé to score is a consistent proposition as they head into a high-profile quarter-final against Morocco.
Morocco have genuine momentum and goalscoring form. After surviving a nervy extra-time draw against the Netherlands in the Round of 32, Morocco found top gear against Canada — winning 3–0 with Ounahi outstanding and Rahimi adding a late third. They will be far from overawed by France in the quarter-finals, having been African champions for three years, and their threat on the counter-attack is a real concern for any opponent.
The Iberian derby between Portugal and Spain is the standout remaining Round of 16 tie. Spain dismantled Austria 3–0 with a composed, high-tempo display, while Portugal came through a tight 2–1 win over Croatia thanks to a Ronaldo penalty and a stoppage-time Ramos header. Both sides have shown they can score in volume, and the head-to-head history between these nations points towards a closely contested but high-quality match — over goals markets and both teams to score are both worth exploring.
Argentina survived a major scare and may carry fatigue into the Round of 16. La Albiceleste were taken to extra time by Cape Verde, eventually winning 3–2 only after an opposition own goal in the 111th minute. Messi scored and was integral, but the additional 30 minutes of play will have taken a physical toll ahead of their fixture against Egypt. A team that progressed via penalties or extra time historically offers slight value against them in the next round, and Egypt — who also went to extra time against Australia — enter on similar terms.
