Key Betting Angles
- Germany look the early statement-makers. A 7–1 demolition of Curaçao at NRG Stadium — with Havertz bagging a brace and goals spread across seven different scorers — flags both ruthless finishing and a generous defensive line if anyone gets at them. Their meeting with Ivory Coast on 20 June (9:00pm BST) is effectively a play-off for top spot and could shape the knockout bracket significantly.
- Group B is the cleanest coin-flip on the board. All four sides drew 1–1 and sit on one point with identical goal differences. With Switzerland–Bosnia and Canada–Qatar both on 18 June, a single decisive result could leapfrog any team to the summit; small-margin markets (draw no bet, double chance) read better here than outright winner picks.
- Sweden vs Netherlands on 20 June is the matchday-two banker fixture. Sweden put five past Tunisia with Ayari (2), Isak, Gyökeres and Svanberg all on the scoresheet, while the Dutch were pegged back twice by Japan. The Over markets and Sweden BTTS angle look credible given both attacks already firing and Netherlands’ defensive lapses in Arlington.
- Scotland are the sleeper top-of-group story. McGinn’s 28th-minute winner over Haiti has them clear at the top of Group C while Brazil sit on a point. The Brazil-Scotland decider on 24 June (11:00pm BST, Hard Rock Stadium) could be priced on reputation rather than form — worth a watch for value on the Scots+handicap or draw.
- Tuesday’s openers reshape three groups. France–Senegal, Iraq–Norway (Group I) and Argentina–Algeria, Austria–Jordan (Group J) all kick off today, with Portugal, Colombia and England also entering the tournament this week. Wait for matchday one numbers before committing to outright group-winner positions in Groups I, J, K and L — early prices on the favourites are unlikely to shorten dramatically, but the underdog angles will firm up quickly.
