Club results in Europe do far more than decide who lifts silverware. The UEFA coefficient each association banks during the 2026/27 season will determine how many clubs it enters for the 2028/29 UEFA competitions — Champions League, Europa League and Conference League — and how those clubs are seeded. England leads the way again, but the scrap below the top ten is considerably tighter.
This Week’s Movers
Latvia (#34, 14.625) and Gibraltar (#46, 7.874) are the two associations climbing in this update of the UEFA country ranking. Their totals sit well below the leading nations, and our own football team rankings based on our own model give a club-by-club view of where that strength is actually coming from.
Heading the other way are Bosnia-Herzegovina (#35, 14.468), Andorra (#47, 7.832) and Malta (#48, 7.625). The arrows indicate direction only, and the gaps here are narrow enough that a couple of matchdays could turn several of these placings around — so treat the current UEFA coefficient standings as a snapshot rather than a settled verdict. See football matches today for the fixtures where those points are on offer.

How the Country Ranking is Calculated
Each association’s position is the sum of its clubs’ results over the five most recent seasons: 22/23, 23/24, 24/25, 25/26 and 26/27. Put simply, the UEFA country coefficient ranking is a rolling five-year total, with the oldest campaign dropping out of the window each summer. Every side representing its association in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League contributes, which makes the list of ongoing football tournaments the engine room behind the whole table.
