You! Yes, you! Are you one of the newcomers checking out League of Legends after watching the Netflix Arcane series? Or maybe you’re one of those guys who played a lot in Season 3, but then had to take a prolonged break? University days are over, and now you’re coming back since you can finally play? Or perhaps you’re just starting out now for an unrelated reason? But there’s one problem: the game’s been out for more than a decade. What once was a humble cast of just 40 characters (with quite basic mechanics, might I add) has turned into a hulking monstrosity of a roster with 157 champions! And let’s not forget – nowadays if you don’t have a triple-effect passive and at least two paragraphs of text explaining what your ult does, you’re behind the curve.

In an environment like this, starting out seems like an impossible challenge. With hundreds of items, thousands of abilities, and millions of interactions, learning it all would seemingly take a lifetime unassisted. But fret not, for aid is here.
Thankfully, the league community is committed to nurturing talent. As the game grew in numbers, so did the playerbase’s skill – and amazing content creators are committed to keeping track and sharing their knowledge with others.
Today, I’ll be going over a few select resources to get your feet wet and ranks up as soon as possible. So, if you want to make it to LCS 2022 season, you better hurry up and check them out!
Overwolf
Although Overwolf is not a champion guide or a detailed matchmaking tool itself, it deserves a separate mention. Naturally, it does: Overwolf is a creator and community-driven platform for all things competitive – and not only. Bringing together millions of fans and even pros, Overwolf makes looking up apps you need (or even making and sharing them) a breeze.
There’s not just League gameplay you can improve there – Overwolf brings together communities for Dota 2, CS:GO, Valorant, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and going even beyond the esports titles by hosting New World, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars content for all the MMORPG lovers out there – and more!

Dozens of games, and thousands of apps.
With more than a decade of history, Overwolf makes gaming communities better worldwide. This article is by no means a detailed list of the things you can find on it – so feel free to look around and find exactly what you need!
Facecheck
The main reason for mentioning this app first is its focus on getting new players up on their feet as soon as possible. With its detailed champion overview and helpful tips by the app creators and reputable community members, Facecheck is the perfect choice for those just starting out.

Facecheck’s champion overview.
Collecting all the essential stats with a basic and easy-to-digest champion and matchup overview and combining it all in a slick eye-candy design, Facecheck will get you ready for your matchmaking journey in no time.
You can look up any part of any champion’s kit using the app. To make things easier, the app allows you to track your recent – and ongoing – lane matchups. So if you find yourself facing an unfamiliar champion, you are only one click away from looking up their kit at all times.

However, Facecheck isn’t just the “beginner-only” app. While indeed being friendly to newcomers, Facecheck has something to offer to veterans, as well.

Better get used to these mountains and valleys.
The app allows you to analyze your playstyle patterns in a blink of an eye, so you can observe your progress – and fix your mistakes – in real-time using this app. Brag to your friends about your average KDA or locate and remedy dips in performance – either way, the usefulness is undeniable. Remember, knowing is already half the battle!
U.GG
When booting up the U.GG app, the first thing you notice is its incredibly detailed match history stats board. You can easily track your performance since the app provides a more detailed match infographic packed into a more easily readable format than League’s default match history.

Quick and easy to read match history by U.GG.
Plus, you can easily analyze multiple matches at once since you’re not contained to looking up a single game at a time anymore – just scroll and click.
In addition, you can spy on the pros to quickly look up the runes they use, their skill rank up order, and their build orders – U.GG makes it easy. No more clicking around ten times to find what you need – it’s all right there, neat and tidy.

Saves you clicks and LP.
But, perhaps, the app’s main point of attraction is its incredibly robust Live Game tool. With merely a click (or even without one if you let it Autoload in the settings), you receive an overview of the picked champions – and, even more important, the playing habits of your teammates.
Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your random teammates is an incredible boost to your team’s winning chances. The app goes into detail while ranking your mates by grabbing stats from League’s API in real-time. Although, be warned – while it is an incredible pointer, do not treat it as gospel. Don’t get tilted when you see a red tag on your teammate – instead, be quicker to rotate and help.

Kayn was incredibly aggressive early that game, so don’t always trust these stats 100%!
Porofessor.gg
Perhaps the most popular and well-rounded app on the list, Porofessor.gg offers you a lot of versatility in its content. At its central hub, you’ll find a pretty familiar sight – pretty much the same content as the popular infographics site op.gg. Summoner’s rank, winrates, most popular picks – nothing too crazy.
However, Porofessor.gg excels at interpreting data and highlighting your (and not only!) performance traits. While some stats look pretty useless at first glance – for example, your rates of losing a game after a streak – it can give you some insight into your performance and habits. If you find yourself losing more often after playing three games, perhaps you should take a short break before starting up another match – both healthier, and your rank will thank you!

I didn’t even think about these stats mattering before I saw them.
Other stats are more straightforward: like the ability to monitor your vision score by the game length. If you find yourself going blind on the Rift around the 4th-minute mark, beware! Junglers might use that gap in your vision to punish you. And to fix that, you need to be aware of that at first.
Another great feature Porofessor has is its replay system. If you’re looking to learn from the best – and for sure, there’s no better way to do so – the app has just a thing for you.

“Watch and learn.”
Sort replays by champions you’d like to learn (or by those you’d like to learn how to beat), and Porofessor will do its magic. You’re just one click away from knowing all the Challenger secrets!
Mobafire
Although it does not have an Overwolf app with a slick built-in UI, Mobafire deserves an honorable mention. If you’re a veteran, you’re most likely familiar with this titan, the fountain of knowledge back from the game’s original days. But, if you’re new, be sure to check it out ASAP!
Mobafire is a community-driven website and a platform for competitive League of Legends knowledge. Sporting thousands of guides for every champion, the website is easy and intuitive to use. Also, Mobafire provides detailed descriptions of the champions’ abilities and items, serving as a wiki.

Since the project is 100% community-driven, it utilizes a rating system to distinguish quality guides from unconfirmed data. So a word of caution – don’t trust all the “100% WR 15 min games every time” builds – watch out for the ratings and reviews first!
Hope you find these resources helpful on your journey to Challenger, and thanks for reading!
