It is now evident that previous multiple rumors regarding some of the roster changes of one of the strongest League of Legends teams in the whole Western world — Europe‘s G2 Esports squad, were recently partially confirmed by the elite multigaming esports organization’s founder and CEO — Carlos Rodriguez Santiago, who is better known in the LoL esports community under the nickname ocelote.
The former professional League of Legends player originating from Spain who previously also professionally played World of Warcraft, has recently shared a short video announcement in his Twitter account:

ocelote stated in his short message that the G2 esports organization is looking to entirely rebuild their League of Legends roster for the upcoming 2022 competitive season. Let us talk a little bit about the whole situation surrounding this announcement.
The legendary progamer, who also competed for many formidable teams such SK Gaming and Gamers2 during his professional career as a player, said that the cause of the decision was that one of the G2 Esports’ primary goals as an esports organization always is to win one of the biggest tournaments in the world — the Worlds series championship, which is held annually by Riot Games as well as their Mid Season Invitational series.
In his message, the 31-year-old retired professional gamer told the public that the G2 Esports organization decided to place most of the LoL team’s players contracts on the transfer list, including the G2’s top lane player — Denmark‘s Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen, former Fnatic‘s bot laner Martin “Rekkles” Larsson from Sweden, and also the support player Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle coming from Slovenia.
The G2 LoL organization additionally wants to sell the contracts of some of their coaches and most of the staff members, including notable figures such as 26-year-old Germany‘s Fabian “GrabbZ” Lohmann, and also G2 Esports’ strategic coach Sng “Nelson” Yi-Wei from Singapore, who previously worked as an assistant coach for one of the best Asian LoL teams and the current Worlds 2021 contenders from China — LNG Esports.
The retired famous LoL progamer, who was previously notoriously banned multiple times by Riot Games for his toxic behavior during his career as player, also mentioned Rekkles as one of the key figures for the current G2 Esports LoL roster. The star Swedish ADC player was especially praised by the G2 team’s owner for a lot of his content creation work, including solo queue streaming of his ranked gameplay.
It is believed by many bright minds in the esports community that the future core of the G2 Esports’ LoL team will include two of the other current players on the roster — their Polish superstar jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and also the mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther coming from Denmark.
Moreover, it was officially reported earlier by multiple news outlets and esports sites on the web in the beginning of September, that Caps was one of the G2 Esports team’s only members, besides Rekkles, who managed to sign a new contract with the European multigaming esports organization, which will presumably last until the end of November 2023.
Following the chronological order, the next key information about the team’s situation was subsequently revealed at the end of September 2021, when multiple sources on the web posted an update regarding G2 Esports’ plans on the LoL roster changes.
It was rumored that Rekkles will no longer play for G2 Esports in 2022 season and the EU organization was already actively searching for a new ADC player with multiple tryouts on the bottom lane position.
It was also rumored that one of the European LoL teams such as Team Vitality from France, also organizations from United States, and even some of the Chinese LoL teams were interested in the acquisition of the talented 25-year-old Swedish bot player’s contract.
ocelote in his message also admitted that the previous competitive season on the League of Legends scene for the G2 Esports’ organization was not quite successful.
The somewhat honest statement coming from the EU team’s chief executive officer emerged in conjunction with the fact that one of the Europe’s most popular LoL squads was unable to qualify for the 2021 World Championship event.
During the season, the G2 team came second in the LEC 2021 Summer split with the strong 12-6 record during the group stage, but lost to MAD Lions in the LEC 2021 Summer Playoffs competition. The G2 Esports vs MAD Lions match in the upper bracket of the event ended 1:3 in favor of the Lions.
The classic G2 Esports vs Fnatic machup ended with the close 2:3 score in the lower bracket elimination match of the LEC series event. In the end, G2 Esports placed fourth, right after the Rogue LoL team, who managed to qualify for the main event of the Worlds 2021 championship instead of the mighty G2 squad.
