Royal Never Give Up
Top Esports
Victory FiveA battle between two of the best teams in the LPL with the prize being a spot in the Grand Final.
V5 was looking for revenge on TES after being reverse sweeped in round four of the upper bracket. While Top Esports wanted to secure their spot in the Grand Final where they would then be able to get their shot at revenge against RNG.
Victory Five vs Top Esports
Top Esports came into the series as the favorites, but with the previous series against V5 going all the way to five games it was expected we would have another close series in our hands.
Game 1
Both teams opted to draft very strong team fight compositions and mid laners with ultimates that could impact the side lanes, and easily create advantage situations.

The game started with no level 1 shenanigans. Rookie was able to shove the mid-lane wave and roomed down to the bot side where he found a beautiful stun into Mark, with four players from V5 in the bottom part of the map Mark was quickly bursted down, and the first blood went the way of V5, with Karsa securing it.
At the 9-minute mark, a fight for the herald erupted, but V5 was quicker to get to the objective, and while the smart decision would be to give up the objective, Top Esports decided to fight despite not having their bot lane present. As you can imagine it didn’t end up well for Knight and company.

With this team fight win, V5 was now in firm control of the game, having a 2k gold lead but most important they were ahead on tempo and had a good late-game composition.
V5 continued to find plays with Rookie and Karsa working really well together, constantly gaining control of the enemy jungle.
At the 16-minute mark, another big team fight happened. This time it was around the dragon, with V5 already having two dragons Top Esport didn’t want their opponents to reach the dragon soul point so early in the game and started the dragon.
Despite arriving when the drake was already at less than 1000 hp Karsa was able to steal the Dragon. V5 proceeded to win the team fight and got four more kills.
Taking dragon? Not if Karsa has anything to say about it. ? #LPL pic.twitter.com/pYjqcTzUaG

It looked like this was V5 game to lose. With a 6k gold lead and looking at how good they were playing the team fights map one was theirs for the taking.
V5 had full control of the map, and with such a big gold lead Top Esports couldn’t win a 5v5 fight.
The team played toward the objectives, getting the cloud soul at the 22-minute mark, but not forcing any fight unless it was around an objective.
With the Elder Drake spawning Top Esports knew they could let V5 secure it, and they needed to secure the drake and win the team fight in order to get back into the game.

However, V5 secured the Elder drake before the fight even started and proceeded to ace Top Esports.
V5 marched into Top Esports base and took map one.
Game 2
Once again V5 opted for a very rooming mid lane in Ryze, and this time they also had Jarvan which is a jungle with a lot of impact in the early game. While Top Esports had a more team fight-oriented composition with the Leona, Vex. It would all come down to executing as neither team had a massive draft advantage.

After a very poor game one performance Tian was decided to turn it around on game two, and with an early gank on the bot side of the map he secured the first blood.
Karsa responded with a dive on the bot side and secure a kill of his own.
This time it was Top Esports who secured the first drake of the game at the 7-minute mark.
Top Esports were being quicker on their rotations and because of that were getting priority on the objectives. They were able to secure the first herald of the game, and despite V5 trying to contest it they were too late.
Tian continued to impact the game and this time it was with a useful gank on the top side.
It was being a calm game, and only at the 12-minute mark did we have our first skirmish.
Top Esports engaged into V5 but Rookie and Photic were able to free hit and turned the fight in V5 favor until JackeyLove showed why he is seen as one of the best ADC in the world.

Tian and company continued to press the lead, finding plays on the top side, controlling the side lanes, and having overall control of the map.
18 minutes into the game Top Esports increased their gold lead even more. After deploying the herald on the mid lane the team was able to take the tier one and tier 2 towers, and also came out on top of the team fight that followed after the second tower was destroyed, securing two more kills.
Despite finding pick after pick, and being already on would point the gold lead for Top Esports was only 3k gold and the game was still very much up for grabs.
Top Esports decided to force the baron after getting a pick onto Rich on the bot side of the map.
It all looked lost for V5 as ppgod was also picked of and there was no way they could win a 3v5 fight.
But Rookie came up huge as the Korean superstar mid laner ulted into the Baron pit and stole the Baron.

V5 was now back in the game, and with an Aphelios, Ryze and Jayce they had a very good chance of securing game two.

However, Top Esports was able to find some picks, and after a pick into Karsa, they went straight into baron and this time were able to secure the buff.

Top Esports matched into V5 base, and despite a valiant last stand by Rookie and company Top Esports won the team fight and tied the series.
Game 3
V5 composition was very strong in the late game and also outranged Top Esports. They also had a lot of engaging tools with Lee Sin, Gragas, and Leona. Top Esports also had a good team fight comp but it would be difficult for them to get to the backline of V5 so it was important for them to have a solid early game.

A solid early game was exactly what Top Epsrots showed us.
After a skirmish around the scuttle crab Top Esports came out with two kills and were already one 1k gold ahead at 4 minutes into the game.
Tian headed into the bot lane and so did Karsa. A 3v3 looked imminent but Tian got their first, Mark hooked ppgod and Top Esports found another kill, with Karsa not being in a position to respond.
Followed by that play Tian also secured the first drake of the game.
Top Esports continued to find picks, this time it was Rookie who died after Mark roamed Mid and was able to connect a hook on the Korean mid laner.
The gold lead continued to increase and every objective was going the way of Top Esports, with great cross-map plays the gold lead was now almost 5k.
22 minutes into the game we had the first 5v5 fight. Top Esports was already on soul point and with a massive gold lead.
A great ultimate by JakeyLove initiated the fight and Top Esports came out on top 2-0 and secured the infernal soul.

The baron was also quickly secured by Top Esports after the team fight, and the game looked done and dusted.
V5 still tried to turn things around but it was too late.

Under the mid lane tier two Top Esports engaged into V5 won the team fight and took the series lead.
Game 4
This time it was V5 that was betting on a strong early game, with a TF and Lee Sin V5 needed a great early game, otherwise against an Irelia, Syndra, and Aphelios backed by a Renata the late game would be very difficult for V5.

Unfortunately for V5 fans, it was Top Esport who started really well. They burned ppgod flash in a 2v2 on the bot lane, and Tian was able to force Karsa flash and followed it by ganking the top side and securing the first blood for his team.
Both solo lanes from Top Esports were already ahead at the 5-minute mark, but at level 6 is where the V5 composition really comes online so there was still a lot of fo time for V5 to turn things around.
V5 was looking for the play that would get them ahead in the game and they found it.
Around the herald, at the 9-minute mark, V5 forced a fight, and with an amazing ultimate by Rich, it looked V5 was going to win the team fight in a convincing way.
But Top Esports played the fight to perfection especially Wayward and Knight and ended up turning the fight in their favor.
HUGE GNAR! But to knight and TES, that's just not enough! #LPL pic.twitter.com/qup9X24RI8

Tian continued to impact the game all over the map. This time the Chinese jungle together with Knigth dived bot side and were able to kill Photic.
V5 friend tried to answer on the other side of the map but Wayward took Rich and Karsa for a dance, with a huge outplay that practically spelled the end of the game for V5.
Straight finesse, Wayward can't be stopped even outnumbered! #LPL pic.twitter.com/WXHP8ti4eG

15 minutes into the game Top Esports had a 6k gold lead and the game was in their hands.
V5 was desperately trying to find some success on the dives or skirmishes but they weren’t able to do so.
After another skirmish win, Top Esports made their way into the Baron and secured the buff at 21 minutes into the game.
Eventually, with the baron buff, Top Esports made their way into the V5 base and claimed game four.
The final fight that clinched the Grand Finals berth. Wayward and knight leave no one in their tracks! #LPL pic.twitter.com/gzSlSXMwos

With another great early game performance, Top Esports won the series 3-1 and secured their spot in the Grand Final.
Now they will have a chance to get revenge on RNG and qualify for MSI.
