The Russia-based esports organization Team Spirit, most known for their Dota 2 roster’s achievements in Dota 2, where they claimed the ultimate prize at The International 2021, has announced their brand new lineup for the League of Legends discipline. It seems just one grand victory in the MOBA genre wasn’t enough for the team.
The International is the pinnacle event in the Dota 2’s yearly esports cycle. With the 2022’s iteration of The International being amped up to include 20 teams from all over the world, the event also features an ever-increasing community-driven prize pool. Currently sitting pretty at eye-watering $40,018,195 in prize pool, the stakes are high, and the teams’ drive to win is even higher.
Team Spirit certainly did their homework when building the team as it includes two of the longest-standing players on the CIS scene: Danil “Diamondprox” Reshetnikov and Edward “Edward” Abgaryan. Both of them played under the tag of Moscow Five in the earliest days of competitive League of Legends: that team was internationally recognized as the first to make a dent in the Korean scene’s dominance back in the day.

Diamondprox is a legendary player who plays as a jungler. His daring strategies in Season Two and Three shaped the competitive meta, as he was the first to find the effective use of counter-jungling strategy. Edward is most known for his aggressive playstyle around botlane as support, being recognized as a great Thresh player – perhaps even on the level of the Korean player MadLife.
The newly-acquired roster will compete on the fields League of Legends Continental League – or LCL for short. Organized by Riot Games Russia, it is the top-level competitive stage in the CIS region. The league started in 2016, replacing the StarLadder’s StarSeries.
