HBO Max launched in the UK on March 26, becoming the new home of TNT Sports. The streaming platform replaces discovery+ as the primary way to access football coverage and other sporting events across the UK.
Since TNT Sports replaced BT Sport in 2023, viewers had streamed matches via discovery+. That arrangement has now ended. The shift affects how fans watch the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup, along with rugby, MotoGP, UFC, golf, cricket, snooker, tennis, and cycling.
Getting HBO Max in the UK
Subscription options are available through multiple retailers. The simplest route is signing up directly at hbomax.com or downloading the HBO Max app.
Prime Video offers dedicated channels for both HBO Max and TNT Sports for those preferring that route. Sky bundles free HBO Max access into its £22 Ultimate TV package, which also includes Netflix, Disney+, Hayu, and discovery+. The bundle totals roughly £240 annually in combined value and includes 135 TV channels.
Important: Sky raises the Ultimate TV price to £24 for new sign-ups after March 31. The package does not include standalone TNT Sports, which costs £30.99 monthly on a rolling basis. Sky also reserves the right to adjust pricing during its 24-month contracts.
Existing TNT Sports Subscribers
Current TNT Sports subscribers retain access using existing login credentials on the HBO Max app. Those with discovery+ accounts automatically transition to HBO Max. Subscribers via the Prime Video channel can use their existing account details without interruption.
