Arne Slot confirmed the news ahead of Liverpool‘s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Friday evening, a fixture that carries significant weight as both sides contest fourth place in the table. Liverpool close out the season at Anfield against Brentford on 24 May.
“Konate is OK, trained with us. Salah is available for a few minutes but hopefully can come in,” Slot said. “Alisson, trained with us, let’s see where he is. Wirtz – stomach infection so let’s see how fit he is. He is on antibiotics.”
Beyond Salah, Slot confirmed that Ibrahima Konate and Alisson Becker have both returned to training, though the goalkeeper’s involvement against Villa remains to be assessed. Florian Wirtz is battling a stomach infection and is on antibiotics, leaving his availability uncertain.
Slot was less accommodating when pressed on Alisson‘s future beyond this season, shutting down the line of questioning with visible impatience.
“Boring… same old answer,” Slot said. “I am reading the same as you but I won’t talk about it over here. You can ask as many times as you want in different ways, our fans need to support Alisson if it’s his first or last. Our fans will support him tomorrow and next week and the same goes for next week.”
One confirmed departure this summer is Andy Robertson, who will leave after nine years at the club. Slot paid tribute to the Scottish left-back’s influence on the position and on Liverpool as an institution.
“I think he is maybe the player that changed that position into a player that constantly goes up and down,” Slot said. “I think we all remember the press v Man City, many, many managers showed that to their players. I was one of them. It showed mentality and intensity. He played with that all throughout, constantly up and down, important on both sides of the pitch. One of the full-backs that changed that position. He is a great human, I have experienced that for two years worked with him. People see that in social media posts. He has been a very influential player for this club.”
With Salah, Konate, and potentially Alisson back in the mix, Liverpool head into a decisive final stretch with their strongest available squad. Follow TipsGG for continued coverage, odds, and match previews as the Premier League season reaches its conclusion.
